unless the cable ready tv is equipped with a "CableCard" slot, you cannot receive digital cable channels without a cable set top box. My guess is they are coming out to MT's home to install one or the other.

I'm almost totally ignorant of the process, but...

I need an HD dish and tuner for my TV (Dish Network). This will allow me to receive 30 odd HD stations including 2 thru 13 in HD as well as the 180 or so I already get. On top of that it is a dual tuner with DVR. Meaning I can record 2 programs at one time while watching a third that has already been recorded... so nanner nanner :p

Now if only they'd put something good on TV!

Your still going to need an antenna to get local channels in HD. You also will not get the subchannels. The satellite signal for locals is digital, but not HD.

I went from Comcrash to Dish Net 2 months ago. Same price, but comcrash kept crashing on me so I dumped their cable TV service (still have internet through them though, I have no choice out here :( )

I do get local stations in HD, although they don't always broadcast in HD. Very nice watching the games yesterday.

bro
make sure you adjust your television settings
when I bumped my video settings to "vivid" (Sony) it made it look like a new television when viewing HD channels

Sweet set. My favorite thing about HD is the subchannels. I like having access to realtime weather radar. Comes in handy here in Tornado Alley.
