Big Brother is shouting at you

Britain gets loud speakers for CCTVs

Quote
Big Brother is not only watching you - now he's barking orders too. Britain's first 'talking' CCTV cameras have arrived, publicly berating bad behaviour and shaming offenders into acting more responsibly.

Law-abiding shopper Karen Margery, 40, was shocked to hear the speakers spring into action as she walked past them.

Afterwards she said: 'It's quite scary to realise that your every move could be monitored - it really is like Big Brother.

'But Middlesbrough does have a big problem with anti-social behaviour, so it is very reassuring.'

Good old Daily Mail.

every time i have to show my ID, i think of them old black and white movies about nazi germany where the gestapo stops people on the street and says "where are your papers".

what is a "routine traffic stop" anyway? i thought they had to have probable cause or was that last century?

land of the free and home of the brave are just words in a song now.

A routine traffic stop means they think they know that there is something illegal you have done (possibly driving on revolked license/no insurance) or JUST happen to see that your plates have an expired sticker. Just happen to pull you over and "While walking to your vehicle I noticed your sticker was expired." They could of seen your vehicle while off duty and now on patrol they just happen to be in your area and get you while doing a routine traffic stop.

That's what you get when you vote for all those "law and order" candidates. Whenever I hear "think of the children" I turn and walk the other way.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Does it surprise anyone that a 40-year-old woman finds it "reassuring"?

rpm..  I don't believe it is the law and order candidates making all these new laws for "our own good"  It is liberals.   No matter who tho..

We need to say enough.   We need to say no to any new law that restricts personal freedom and any new tax.

"Big Brother is not only watching you - now he's barking orders too. Britain's first 'talking' CCTV cameras have arrived, publicly berating bad behaviour and shaming offenders into acting more responsibly."

This gives me visions of Winston Smith from "1984" getting berated from the telescreen while doing morning excersises.

Chilling!

Regards,
Sun
==================================================
'Smith!' screamed the shrewish voice from the telescreen. '6079 Smith W.! Yes, you! Bend lower, please! You can do better than that. You're not trying. Lower, please! That's better, comrade. Now stand at ease, the whole squad, and watch me.'

A sudden hot sweat had broken out all over Winston's body. His face remained completely inscrutable. Never show dismay! Never show resentment! A single flicker of the eyes could give you away. He stood watching while the instructress raised her arms above her head and -- one could not say gracefully, but with remarkable neatness and efficiency -- bent over and tucked the first joint of her fingers under her toes.

'There, comrades! That's how I want to see you doing it. Watch me again. I'm thirty-nine and I've had four children. Now look.' She bent over again. 'You see my knees aren't bent. You can all do it if you want to,' she added as she straightened herself up. 'Anyone under forty-five is perfectly capable of touching his toes. We don't all have the privilege of fighting in the front line, but at least we can all keep fit. Remember our boys on the Malabar front! And the sailors in the Floating Fortresses! Just think what they have to put up with. Now try again. That's better, comrade, that's much better,' she added encouragingly as Winston, with a violent lunge, succeeded in touching his toes with knees unbent, for the first time in several years.
Freedom implies risk. Less freedom implies more risk.

Next they will install ticket dispensing machines that when everytime you do something bad, you will get a ticket and hear this voice "You have been fined one credit for a violation of the verbal morality statute"
