Temporary lockups
« on: September 20, 2006, 10:09:13 PM »
I've been playing with the same setup for a long time with no problems.  I haven't played in about a month until tonight.  When I logged in, I started getting lockups that lasted about 30 seconds or so.  It happens on menu screens a lot, and in game occasionally too.  Any suggestions about what I can try?

Specs:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Athlon 64 3500+
Corsair 1gig mem
Two BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
NVIDIA onboard NIC
Win XP Home SP2

In reading some of the other posts, others looked at processes running in the background, antivirus and spyware programs etc., and other system issues. I know you run a pretty clean system, but have you looked at it from a sound card perspective or one of the other system issues you may have overlooked?  Firewall settings, ISP settings or "features" that might be hosing your connection??  I am still messing with my new Trend Microsystems install which has some really neat "default" settings that have hampered my AH experience.  I am bad about NOT switching them off when I fly.  I usually realize it when I am in a dogfight or lining up a bomb drop after a 5 sector trip  :)
That does not make my day, or decade!  :cry

Hey Skuzzy, any questions you might inject here?  The Yippe monster is a sqaddie that we kinda like around on squad nights...can ye gea us a hand matey!  :)

I am not the designer or keeper.  Boa designed and is the host, MiG is now the webmaster and the boss.  I'll let him know.

Sorry if we got off the subject......

If anybody cares, I've discovered the problem.  Aces High apparently does not play well with the new (91.31) NVIDIA drivers or vice versa.  I rolled back to the 78.01 drivers (the next most recent version with stereo support) and it works fine.

The 9x.xx drivers have serious memory management issues.
