What speed and what altitude should the plane be for the torpedo to hit. I use the TBM.

Under 200MPH and under 200 feet in all torpedo planes.

Takes a good bit of practice to learn how much lead you need ony our target and at what distance to drop em, too.

I musta dropped at least 20 torpedoes to kill CVs, and only ever hit ONCE. Got me the kill though ;)

Its the leading thats hard, because I always think the torpedo will be going faster than it actually does.

always attack head on and shove them down there neck  or  from the front quaters this way  if cv starts turning you got a good chance to adjust yur drop and u dont have all the guns trying to light u up.

although this 5 inch ack crap is a joke

Yup - Head on is the easiest way to attack...took out a cruiser just this morning that way. Although I've attacked from the stern and broadside as well and have had good results since figuring out how far to lead the target.  In fact a couple of weeks ago I got the CV and a support vessle in one run...

The one I got was a broadside attack, because it was turning, and it was in the EWA, so flak was shredding us.

the problem with these cv groups is that the group travels to fast(50mph) so if you drop from behind you won't kill it.

As the (great) tutorial points out, a cut-and-dried <200' < 200 mph is not correct. Torps from a TBM can be dropped higher and faster and is historically correct from what I've read. That, in itself, is a testament to the research and modeling HTC does.

So, your saying even though in real life its higher and faster, in the game its still <200 <200?
