What have you done with your free time
« on: September 24, 2006, 01:01:53 AM »
>S< all, since the new format i have painted most of the inside of my house, mainly during the evening hours when I used to play AH.
I have 12  cords of firewood stacked in the back yard, prolly gonna sell 6 of them and got paid to cut the wood to begin with. I cleaned out my garage and can now play with my woodworking tools at night.( i made handles out of ELM wood I cut and put them on all my broken maul heads, sledge hammer heads, axe heads  etc.) I can't blame this all on my lack of interest in the new AH, because FORD is paying me 85% of my regular pay to stay home, but I have flown only 3 times in the two weeks ive been home and never longer than an hour.. I wish I could give my perks away as I won't be needing them after this month. GOOD LUCK ALL, I might pop in now and then  on two week free trial to see if HT is done making MAJOR changes to something that wasnt broke. THANKS ALL for a FUN 6 YEARS

CYA KAK, I understand your frustration. When it's no fun to play, no reason to pay.

I was finally able to find something more interesting than painting the inside of my house, cutting firewood, cleaning the garage and doing the honey-do work.

I am finally able to enjoy flying AH again in the EW. MW is looking attractive right now too.

HTC!

Sorry to see you go; I think you'll be missing a lot of new, interesting developments as the player base grows even larger.

Looks like a 4.0 for me this semester.  This change has bored me to death.  I have plently of extra time for studying.

I played a bit of IL2, but that reminded me why I started to play AH2 and then.. hmm.

I think the furballer bunch should go play that game for a while, small squads, small arenas.  Everything they keep demanding.  Hmm...  add combat trim to IL2 and I think these problems would go away.

What makes you think that some haven't already have tried it and determined that IL2 ... to borrow a quote ... "SUCKS EGGS" ... and combat trim will not solve IL2s problems.

What have I done with my spare time?

After watching the MA go down the toilet for the past couple of years I've spent my extra time pursuing other hobbies.

However. Since this change I just spent a considerable amount of time building a dual boot PC JUST to be able to program my old CH gear so I can get back in!

Over the last year I have done a lot of non flying because of old MA horde environment. Aside from useful, real life stuff I've spent way too much time on Civ 4 and started on Red Orchestra. The few times I've flown, it was mostly just to justify my monthly $15 support of HTC, with the hope that the MA would get better or maybe the CT would eventually deliver. Lately though, I was questioning my continued support for a game that had, over the past several years, ceased to be fun for any extended period of time and I was getting prepared to finally call it quits.

Now, although I'm at a busy time in RL, I'm looking foreward to keeping the subscription I was going to let drop and playing a lot more as winter sets in and my other obligations slack off a bit. My few trips to the new arenas have shown a lot of rust on my part, but I'm really liking the variety and the increased fighting. It's a partial return to the environment I found when first I shifted to AH from virtually same type of horde stagnation that had took over AW gamestorm in its dying years. Log on, no fight unless  you join the gangbang or bend over and take it from the gangbang, log off.

AH1 for me was almost a return to fun of SVGA AW, and this is an encouraging development in that direction for me and what I look for out of these games.

Charon

[edit: It had got to the point that I became a whiney little drama queen on the boards about how unfun my gameplay had become, how much it sucked, how unfair, etc. "We need to stop the hordes! wahhh!" Finally I just realized it was only a game, it would follow its own course regardless of what I wanted or did not want, and I could either support it, find something that does the same thing better or move on to other things entirely. For $15 a month though it was cheap enough to "move on to other things entirely" and still get some value out of the occasional log on with the occasional good fight. But, when you think about $180 a year, I was starting to figure where else I could spend that money -- perhaps a new Enfield to add to the collection. Now, I guess not :) I guess my continued subscription cancels out at least one of the leaving horde warriors.]
