Again, the stench of jet fuel and destuction waft thru New York, this time 15 miles from ground zero.
Again, NYC rescue and fire crews stand and fight at the scene of a disaster, picking thru rubble, looking for some sign of survivors.
The A/A Airbus 300, less than 3 minutes after wheels up, went nose down, slamming into a small residential community... only this community has already lost more than 3 dozen members to the WTC disaster... another 47 of them from Far Rockaway were Firemen and EMT's.
It's speculated the Airbus suffered significant engine failure.. possibly a bird ingestion. It's reported there was no contact with ground controllers from the plane... yet there was a trail of fuel across Jamaica Bay; reporters indicating the Pilot was jettisoning fuel. The tail and both engines seperated from the aircraft prior to impact. That smacks of an in flight explosion to me..
As far as I'm aware, an Airbus cannot jettison fuel.. I suspect the Airbus ingested birds on takeoff, (geese are a huge problem here at this time of year) and the engine malfuction degenerated into a catastrophic failure, shredding the aircraft with compressor blades, holing the tanks and touching off the fuel.
Here in the metro area, within 5 minutes of the impact every bridge tunnel and alley leading into manhattan and all bridges off Long Island were closed.. turning this Island into a Roach Motel. If you got in; you'll never get out..
I am so tired.. so saddened by the scenes again of death and disaster.. it's enuff already. Terrorist action or not; the results are all to real; too immediate.. just too much.
How much more do we have to take?
If you pray.. please do so.. for the folks on that doomed Airbus, for the folks on the ground toasted where they sat in their homes, for the folks that had to go door to door begging for bedsheets in the neighboorhood to wrap the bodies in...
Whatever we've done; we didn't deserve this....
