Max res is 800x600 ... the SSI designers must have been closed in their offices during the last 5 years

Something like EAW prior to the 1.1 patch ...

Diablo II's max res is 800x600 too. It's the largest selling pc game in the world. what's your point?

I have SH2 and it's flucking great. I love it. IMHO, it's one of the best combat games of the year.

came to my mind, since its 800x600, i could use this radeons video out very well, only having to suffer from flickering 50hz  :D

The only problem I have is that I cant dig out my P166 and my Matrox Millenium, its all covered by dust, with spiders running everywhere   :D

Jokes apart, a 2001 simulation running at 800x600 is simply unbelievable. Graphics arent all but are important in a 3D sim. In the manual there is a warning: WATCH OUT, SOME HARDWARE CANNOT RUN AT (gasp) 800x600. They didnt even bother to rewrite the 5 years old manual.

Shame.

GATT: maybe they mean that some hardware can't run with such LOW resolutions lol!

If I set my old geforce to run at 640x480 I get all kinds of weird bugs on screen...

SH II was started many years ago but then production was halted due to some financial probs if I recall right.

So basically the core could be 3-4 years old.. However low res doesn't mean the game sucks. Graphics is 10% of game - gameplay 90% don't you agree? How many of you play cfs2 unpatched? There you go..

Well, for starters, Diablo II was a real piece of mindless, boring crap, seemingly aimed more at console gamers than PC gamers - and they are used to having crappy resolution on their TVs.  But that's another point...  Suffice it to say that the popularity of something among the general public doesn't equate to quality - look at how many people eat at Arby's and buy N'Sync records.

I will grant you that graphics/resolution don't 'make the game', but I agree with Gatt that in 2001, with the hardware most people are running, especially the (generally older) crowd that are the market for SH2, having such a ridiculously small resolution is near to inexcusable for a 'sim'.

Ah, I forgot to mention that if you dont have a GeForce3 or the last Radeon you cant get those nice sea reflections.

I played some hours, the game is not bad but hasnt (so far) the immersion you could get with SH and Ace of the Deep.
