The CT is not working.

It's obvious it's not what most of those calling for it had hoped for. The numbers usually aren't there, and that's the best indication.

One person wants this aircraft matchup, another wants this, others say the aircraft matchup is not evolving fast enough etc.

Not HTC's fault, its tough to keep up with what people are thinking.

I would suggest, in the same way the Scenario folks have control of the Scenario Servers and select the map, planes etc, that a Design Group for the CT be struck to design and set the parameters of the CT server. We could have an open Chat session to select the members.

They can put together parameters for the server which will keep people happy. And they will have the time to make more frequent adjustments.

So we can have a Russian Front one day, a Mediterranean Front the next, base capture for this week, a different strat the next.

That way HTC doesn't have to be constantly spending their time reading the CT Forum, trying to gauge the mood of the CT crowd, and whether they should change things or not.

The CT does not cater in anyway to the nationality of the majority of AH players at the moment which is Amuricun. Once US iron hits the skies, I "think" #'s will pickup.

A good suggestion Buzz, but I think its abit premature to say its not working just yet +)

From a CM stand point, thanks, but no thanks.

With the TOD's, Snapshots, and planning the next big event we have plenty to do.

I my time working on events is three or four times what I fly. That is not a complaint, because I enjoy doing it, just a reason.

Daddog... if you read a little closer you will see that Buzz is not actually suggesting that the scenario group look after the CT +), but another group look after it in much the same way you guys look after the events.

It may be a tricky - but the idea itself has merit.

How about this...

You guys go ahead and organize. Build your team from a group of folks... maybe have some kinda application process or vote or whatever. You'll need someone to be in charge. Then y'all see if you can come to a consensus on what *realistic* changes could be made to the CT. Get player feedback, make adjustments, whatever.

Once you have that, make a formal presentation to Pyro, and he'll assess it and make changes as he sees fit to do. He was very quick on the draw when he elicited opinions from the players, picked Funked's idea (it was a great idea), and made the change within a couple of days.

I guess what I'm saying is that nothing is really stopping you from going ahead and doing this now. If you guys can come to a consensus on anything and the rest of the players support you, it will have an added cachet and... well... you may have better luck getting something across rather than the current 100 scattered ideas approach. You have got to keep in mind that you need to be realistic about what changes are possible, let alone desirable by the majority of flyers. HTC also has a good grasp on the direction they want to go in and your ideas may not always be in line with them. Be prepared to deal with that too.

So... Go ahead and run with it Buzz - you don't need anything from anyone to get started.

The state of the present coding, and whats possible and whats not is not known by errmm 99.9% of us...

Kinda makes it tough. Planesets and terrain maybe about all a group could do at the moment without more knowledge.

Well, that's ok. Form your team, come up with a draft, and ask a few questions while creating it. I'm sure any of the CMs would be happy to let you know if what yer thinking is possible. Just ask.

A player committee is a great idea for the CA. I would like too see this idea evolve and I belive that Nash is correct. If I can help please ask.

Your right of course SKu. I was reading past the post and thinking of a conversation banana had with pyro about the CT.

Anything that can be done to increase the numbers and keep it historical I would be for.

As for a CT team, I hope it works out "if" HTC wants the help. I was under the impression HTC was going to Admin the CT as they do the MA. I am sure they would welcome ideas since pyro had already posted asking for some, but I don't think it would go beyond that IMHO.

If you have questions about CM tools, as Nash said any CM would be glad to help explain what we can and can't do.

If something like this is done, HTC should decide on the who, what, where, why and when.

Any attempt at having the community decide amongst themselves turns into some kind of popularity contest and is more destructful than helpful.

Oh, I don't know Deja.

I've always enjoyed those Discovery Channel specials that show sharks in a feeding frenzy attacking one another remorselessly. They all attack and devour one poor bastige and then turn on another in the pack without missing a fin beat.

Could be fun to watch here.
