Gruppen-

Some of you old farts might remember Bob "Rookie" Hunter from ancient DOS AW days and the Delphi Flight Sim forum.  He's a charter member of the Cactus Air Force, was its 2nd CO, and my long-time wingman in AW.  Well, it's my sad duty to inform you all that he's become extremely ill, has been in a coma for the last few days, and isn't expected to survive this weekend.

So drink some to his health this weekend and, if that fails, drink some more to his shade.  He'd appreciate that, either way.

<S> Bob

Thanks for putting this up BH.

Our prayers are going out tonight that a miracle might pull Rookie thru.

Some of you may have met him at BopCons or know him from the Flight Sim Forum.  Bob was a wonderful guy, good natured and always willing to help.

Im shocked and Saddened

Any loss in our ranks should effect all of us, regardless of time or game.

I never met Rookie in the digital skys, never even heard of him till now. Here's hoping that he'll make it, I'd like to have a shot at meeting him.

It's at times like this that word truly fail me.  I have known Bob since long before AW was a part of our lives.  Not only was he a Charter member of the Cactus Airforce, but he also was a charter member of the orignal Falcon 3 group on Prodigy.  Bob was one of the guy who gave me my first call sign " Fang ".  It was Sort of a F3 group tradtion at the time, to give the New guy there Call sign if they didn't have one.   That Call sign stuck with me for a very long time.  It wasn't till a few years ago that I changed it to my current one.
My hopes and prayers go out to him dureing this time of need.  <S> Friend!!

Thanks for posting, BH.  Very sad news indeed.

I have many fond memories of good times in AW DOS shared with Rookie.  His humor and sportsmanship made that game better for everyone who played it.  He'll be in my thoughts.

I never knew him in person.  Though he probably had the joy of shooting me outa the skies more than once.
Our prayers are with him and his family.
May God bless them all with strength to endure.

Just a Quick Update...

Rookie is still alive and fighting.  He isnt out of the woods by a long shot, but he has improved.  He is semi alert, but heavily sedated.  Much more Positives than negatives in the past week.

Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers.  I believe they have helped.
