Instrument Units
« on: September 29, 2006, 02:23:56 PM »
Do the instruments in all of the planes in the sim use the same units or do they vary depending on the country of origin?  Are all air speed indicators in miles per hour regardless of country of origin?  Are all altimeters in feet?  Are all variometers in feet/minute?   Are there any in metric or nautical units?  The air speed indicator in the Ki-84 appears to be miles per hour not kilometers per hour (or it’s a lot slower than it should be).  This will be good to know if I hop into a 109 or Yak.

I hope the answer isn't in bold print in the documentation I've read.  :)

All airspeeds are in mph

EDIT: And the altimeter is in feet, and the climb meter is also in feet.

The only real difference is the pressure marks on the manifold pressure gague, these vary depending on the country and the boost type used.

Ah, thanks, I knew I forgot something!

By "in yards" also note that "1k" means 1,000 yards, and 2k "2000 yards" etc etc (I had to spell this out, just in case. If you already knew it, no worries! :aok )

Thanks,

I thought the K meant kilometers.  :o  That's what had me uncertain about my interpretation of the instruments.

Well a yard is 3 feet. A meter is close to 3 feet, so you COULD estimate 1k = 1kilometer, and 2k = 2kilometers. It's not exact, but it's pretty close.

The k stands for thousand, rather than kilometer.
