Do most people use Mics or pound the KB? Just want to know if I should invest. My Radio play definitely needs help along with my . commands.
To much happening at once right now

A mic is a nice supplement to the keyboard. I've always typed fast, so I never really needed one. Even back in games like XvT or XWA folks would say "wow you type fast!" (no vox in those games, you see). However, a mic is a good efficient way to communicate. Instead of hitting auto level, hitting "/" and then typing "which way did those bombers go?" hoping somebody reads the buffer on range, you could just press a button and say the same thing.

There are pros and cons with everything, but I think it's good to have, especially considering that a cheap-o mic (like the kind that come with a PC) will do the job and only costs $5.

I agree with Krusty.  I can type most replies pretty quick, but during a fight I can bump one key I have setup on my stick and say "clear" "rgr" "copy" or in a hurry instead of typing cc I can click click on the mic :P For most of my watermelon chatting with friends I still type and leave the mic for fights.

I like to keep my hands on the controls so I got the headset and the mic.  If I'm heading to target with no cons around I'll type on country or squad so... do both :D

Also if you're in the fur you don't always have time to be able to read the text buffer. Vox is best in this situation IMHO.

Both, voice is nice but not everyone will understand you as well as text.

However in the middle of a fight it can be faster.

They each have their place.

I picked up a $3 "Micro" brand mic 3 years ago, it still works.

Be sure to mute the mic in Windows unless you want to hear feedback. It'll still xmit pressing T / F12

Somewhat on topic.

Since my leaving AH several years ago there are tonnes of new features including the voice (it was a seperate program in beta testing when I left :lol)

Is there a VOX setting for it or is it only PTT?

I have noticed some reference to VOX and wasn't sure if people were just calling the push to talk activated voice channel VOX or if they were really refering to the fact that you can use the voice channel as voice activated (VOX).

I haven't seen anything for setting delay, gain and anti vox anywhere so I was curious if I was missing a feature.

Besides if has a real VOX setting then I will avoid it.  It would not be suitable for most of the younger crowd to hear me fly :)

LOL.  :) I use both the keyb and the VOX.  I think it all depends on what my mind set is at the time or if I'm in the MA.:noid

Thanks for the feedback :D  After Friday night's rhubarb in the MA I know I need a mic. Too much hunting and pecking going on. I'm cannon fodder already w/o gazing at my keyboard. Cheers :)
