No gore, nor extraordinary eye candy besides a simple map, and your chess pieces (silos, planes, boats, subs etc).  Sort of like a Diplomacy game with nukes, simpler.
You can make alliances (6 players per game IIRC), the game is pretty much all strat..  It doesn't seem to have much micromanagement.
It's 15$ for the full game, demo is limited to 2 players.  There's also an "office" mode, in 1x time compression, and an extra large map mode, which lenghtens the game.

Their servers are hosed with traffic, at the moment.

The strat is really great, and there's no resource/research mouse-clicking farming race.

Buy it from Introversion's website, though, Steam's distribution is still hosed.

Downloaded the demo but I had terrible framerates on my work laptop. I may try it on my Mac later
