Video card bios
« on: October 01, 2006, 06:34:51 AM »
Folks, I flashed my PNY 6600GT(Nvidia), to unlock a temperature monitor on the card. Also, flashed it with a "modded" bios. Turned out great. FR's much higher, stable, no problems after several hours of playing.
It was something that I was wanting to do for a long time, but was a little wary. If anyone is interested, let me know, I'll give info and what's needed to properly do the trick.

Note: ATI's can also be flashed.

now that one thing i just would find scary

its not for the faint of heart which i am ( you wouldnt think it getting a GeForce 6600 128MB from 300Mhz Core  550 Mhz ram to 420 and 650 respectivly)

if you have a power outage, brownout, blown fuse or just hit the rest switch you could have corrupted data the card needs to start correctly and you have to use a pci card to flash it again ( i dont have) or try to blind flash it ( which may not work and i have no idea how to do.) so i couldnt do that although i am upgrading to a 6800 (i cant remember the model number off the top of my head but it has 256MB 1ghz GDDR3 and 450mhz core)

so before i give my 6600 to my bro i might try to flash the BIOS on it and tweak the voltages a tad w/ NiBitor..
SO what the heck ill give it a whirl..
:D

Mine is currently running at 561 core, 1.08 Ghz memory "0 Had it higher, but don't want to kill it. It does have the "test changes" panel switch, that you have to use, to ensure that your settings will work.

P.S. I'm also using the NGO tweaked 91.47 drivers, without the stupid new Nvidia control panel. Hate the new one. I didn't use Nibitor, instead I used Hexstreme.

i use Nvtweak 4 my ocing, test changes up 5Mhz test changes up 5 mhz lol its repetitive.  i have gotten it to run at 426 but it will only survive one test i just click on the slider and dont change anything, and it sorta gives what stability will be.

P.S.i also hate the new Nvidia CP only the old one is good.
