Hi,
I downloaded the game about a week and a half ago and like it alot.  I never expected to be good right away but the skill it actually takes to be a resonable player is very high (something that I am far from reaching at the moment).  Any way, I read alot of other threads and I checked out alot of the web site links and found some interesting stuff.  I decided that I am only going to fly the P-51D on account I read it is a good plane to start off with and that new people should try and stick with one plane.  Is this a good decision?  Also I noticed that people are able to turn and pull manuveurs alot better (or faster for lack of a better word) than I am.  I have yet to experiment with trim or flaps, how much do these things help when dog fighting?  I appreciate any basic pointers or additional help on topics that may be important that I didnt think to post.

Thanks for the help,
Strife

I flew the 51 early on but I tend to bleed energy and get sucked into turn fights.  Set up some time with a trainer in the TA to get some good pointers on how to fly that beast :D

Welcome to your new addiction and, as I always tell my fellow noobs, if you see me in the ta shoot me a message and, if I'm not training with someone, I'll fly target drone for you :D

Hi! Dicho,

Saw you in the TA last night and chased you around a little.  Hope I didn't look too silly.  Next time I'll give you a holler.  For some reason I'm reluctant to interfere with what may be going on.  Just shy I guess.  I'm trying to get set up with a trainer.

It would nice to have a target droan.  That's usually my role.:lol

Hi Strife,

Welcome to the game.  I apologize for my bad manners in using your thread for a personal message to Dichotomy.  I was flying in the training arena till 2am and then up at 7.  My brain is a little foggy.  It is and addiction as he says.  You may be looking for a 12 step program in a few weeks.

I won't offer any tips other than study the forums.  I'm too new at this myself to be handing out advice.

Again, welcome!

Welcome to Aces High Strife !

As I'm sure you've seen in a number of other threads the plane that is best to start with varies widely depnding on who you ask.  :D

The P51 is a good plane. Its strenghts are speed, a good high speed turn rate, tho don't stay on the turn long or you'll burn "E" quick, very good fuel milage, and good guns.

The 51 turns well at high speeds, and with flaps doesn't do badly at low speeds, tho you'll have to be very easy on the stick and rudder in slow turns or you'll end up spining bad. Best bet is to keep the fight fast, and if you find yourself getting to 200, point that nose down a bit a run..... err... "extend"   :p

Combat trim is fine till your a pro... reads lots or practice.... but flaps are a big plus. As your plane slowes, loses "E" you can use your flaps to generate some lift to keep your plane in the air. I've seen some of the "Bronco Mustangs" get the pony under 100 and still manuver with it. It takes a steady hand, but it can be done.

Biggest thing to remember is your going to get shot down A LOT !!! its all fun, don't let it bother you. In the years to come you'll be the one killing the newbies  :)

Awsome.  Thanks for the feed back.  So I take it that it is definitly worth my while to hang around in the training area.  If anyone happens to know anything about the p-51D or might see me please say something:).

Thanks again.
