Welcome to Aces High Strife !
As I'm sure you've seen in a number of other threads the plane that is best to start with varies widely depnding on who you ask.
The P51 is a good plane. Its strenghts are speed, a good high speed turn rate, tho don't stay on the turn long or you'll burn "E" quick, very good fuel milage, and good guns.
The 51 turns well at high speeds, and with flaps doesn't do badly at low speeds, tho you'll have to be very easy on the stick and rudder in slow turns or you'll end up spining bad. Best bet is to keep the fight fast, and if you find yourself getting to 200, point that nose down a bit a run..... err... "extend"
Combat trim is fine till your a pro... reads lots or practice.... but flaps are a big plus. As your plane slowes, loses "E" you can use your flaps to generate some lift to keep your plane in the air. I've seen some of the "Bronco Mustangs" get the pony under 100 and still manuver with it. It takes a steady hand, but it can be done.
Biggest thing to remember is your going to get shot down A LOT !!! its all fun, don't let it bother you. In the years to come you'll be the one killing the newbies
