Illegal workers are like a drug. Maybe if we end the "war" on illegals, then we could "devalue" the "product" and we would not have an illegal imigration problem.

Both really. Smuggling is smuggling, whether it's drugs or people. Illegal immigrants come through the tunnels just like tons of illegal drugs do. A big fence is a money pit that really only seems to appeal to hardcore right-wingers.

A big wall doesn't really work for the Israelis... it's has been, and still is tunneled under regularly.

People still made it past the Berlin Wall, and it was guarded by machine gun nests, attack dogs, and infantry support.

If you want MS13 & the Mexican Army to stop crossing the border smuggling drugs... end the war on drugs. Sending in the 1st Infantry to occupy the border will end up with quite a bit of ongoing violence. The money is too huge not to take the risk of running their gauntlet.

Switch the product from drugs to people, and it's even nastier. It goes beyond people trying to get rich quick, to people in desperate circumstances trying to provide for their family. That makes the risks even more palatable.

Easy way to solve it

Local malitias gaurd the borders with high powered rifles. See an illegal crossing into the us, shoot to kill.

I blame Clinton. If he'd have concentrated on winning the war on drugs instead of chasing tail, we wouldn't HAVE an illegal immigrant problem!

meatwad got it right, you only have to shoot at a few coyotes (coyotes are the guides for the illegal border crossing) to stop the flow, might not even have to kill any of them , just a few well placed warning shots.

Bleeding heart libs think the same way. The reason we are in the position of having to protect our borders in the first place is the "let it go" attitude.

Perhaps they should take note how Mexico itself protects it's southern border, I'm sure you'd be shocked. I say we do as Mexico does not as it says.

P.S. Before anyone screams racism, I have quite a few good friends originally from Mexico, they are all law abiding citizens of the US now or at least have valid work visas.

Best idea I can come up with is this:
We declare the border area a Natural park for wildlife, we compensate the farmers down there for any trouble etc. We fill the Natural park with enough prides of lions to ensure there are no gaps.
We could put a few antelope/Gazele in there too, not enough though that they don't go looking for extra food sources.
Like to see the mexicans and their drugs go sneaking across open areas with prides of lions stalking them....

I agree that a fence is pretty much a waste but not totaly... it sends a message and will prevent maybe 25% of what is coming in now... worth doing probly.

The real solution is of course, to stop the lure. no illegal jobs... no illegal aliens.

Guest workers/visa workers....They should not recieve services but.... the employer should be liable for them. He either gets a group insurance plan or pays at the pump.

Then you would have stoned lions climbing up trees and then jumping from the top of them thinking they cold fly
