Basically there are two types of driver software for ATI cards.

1) drivers that use "Catalyst Control Center" to make them work.

2) drivers that use "Control Panel" to make them work.

Now this is the trick:

U ultimately would like to use drivers that use the "Control Panel".

U ultimately would like to *not* use drivers that use the "Catalyst Control Center"

The simple reasoning behind this concept is that the "Catalyst Control Center" requires that you download Microsoft .Net Into your program files.

This is not good for this reason:

Most of us try to keep our computers slim and trim with less applications and running programs so that our computers will be faster for game play. According to what I have read, Microsoft .Net is a "Resource Hog" and will run even if u are not running the software application for you Ati card.

Which cards work with which drivers I do not know for sure. Ati doesn't really clarify what goes with what. I have found with my card x850xt I can use either, "Catalyst Control Center" or "Control Panel". Good Luck.

Use the latest ATI drivers.

I do for a x1800Xt and they work fine.

While the message above about the .net stuff is technically correct - it's also a non sequiter because the card and your machine have more than enough horsepower to offset that slight increase in load.  Particularly if you have a dual core chip.

The Omega drivers are nice if you are trying to solve a particular problem that they address - but if that is not the case, it is better to stick with the plain ATI drivers.
