Or, if it is too difficult to impliment a total malfunction of various instruments, perhaps just the glass being shattered or otherwise broken to obscure the view?

I don't want a war simulator. HTC has mentioned before this is a "flight simulator" not a "combat simulator" -- if it were, it would include 1 life only, 5 hour flights with nothing happening, guns jamming after 5 hours and nothing to show for it, having major physical limitations based on the pilot (and not the plane) and all that stuff that does NOT make a good game.

I don't want to see damaged instruments. Why? Because I want to see damaged PARTS, leave the instruments as-is. We're here for the flight sim, NOT the war sim.

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

HT better redefine what is stated on the title page then if this is not the "internet's premier combat experience".

Um... so you don't like the combat part? Just the flying part?  I'm confused a bit by your post.

We?

Since when did you speak for the masses?  Isnt that arrogant presumption?

"I" don't have an issue with damaged instruments.  If you can damage the pilot and the rest of the aircraft, why not?

I suggest you jaunt over to Flight Sim 2004, Krusty.  ;)

I'm having flashbacks to Aces of the Pacific, where cracked instruments = You're boned.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Speaking of damaged instruments and indicators in the cockpit, I read someone's critique of B-17 design, and he said the primer pumps in the cockpit for all four engines had avgas lines running to them and back out to the engine.

In a different critique of the P-51 cockpit, some pilot commented that it was not reassuring that they used a "wet" fuel gauge, so you could actually see fuel.

I'll bet there are all kinds of little damage models that could be added that would spice up your last few seconds in the cockpit. And for the sake of immersion I'm actually for whatever could be modeled.

Okay 2 of you totally misread what I typed. This is a game, not a recreation of real events. If you WANT nothing but mindless boring, but highly realistic PROBLEMS every time you take off, with NO combat, NO kills, NO rewards, then add broken instruments.

If you LIKE actually just focusing on killing the other plane, then leave them out. In AH all the pilots are equal. They start with the same stuff, and one kills the other. The battle situation, the positional advantage, and hell even the plane TYPE can determine the victor. But when you get down to gimping one player with broken instruments you're arbitrarily saying "I want the guy with WORKING instruments to win" before the fight starts.

You have to draw the line somewhere. HTC has drawn it so that AH is about flying the planes, not worrying over instruments..
