CH Pro V.S. X52 Which is Better?
« on: October 05, 2006, 02:22:29 PM »
My X52 is starting to crap out on me and I'm considering getting a new stick.  Anyone out there who have used both.  Is it worth extra $ for the CHPRO?  It appears that the X52 has more buttons.

How did your X52 break?

Mine is now being real shaky, having to recallibrate 4+ times a night.  The hat works great.

I bought a logitech, it broke in 3 months.  So I bought the X52 it's worked great up until about 2 months ago (love my X52).  Now it's getting worse and worse.

I figured if the CHPRO breaks too, might as well buy the cheaper X52 if I'm gonna have to replace my stick on a yearly basis.  But if the CHPRO doesn't crap out it would be worth the extra buck for the durability.

Thanks for the input

CH stuff lasts for YEARS...and when it does crap out its always somthing minor like a button or spring...real easy to replace considering CH lets you buy parts seperately. CH is the best joystick company IMO. Ive had my current USB setup for 3 years with no problems. When i played AW i had their analog setup and it lasted for about 4 years with no problems until i quit playing AW. I actually still have them in my closet and im sure they are in perfect working order.

However it's a big investment to plop that much down for CH gear. Especially when you get a stick AND throttle for less than a single stick OR throttle costs for CH gear.

It might be worth the convenience of "not saving up $300 at once" to spend $100 once every 3 years.

Just adding a counter-point, mind you. I believe you all when you say CH is primo gear.

Going to be 2 years on my X-52 in a month or so. Has it been that long already? I had to go back and look up some posts from when it first came out to  check the date on them lol. No problems, works as good as when I bought it..   What are you guys doing to yours LOL

CH isn't perfect and they will yank your chain like most other companies, but the lack of nose bounce is better than anything else I've had. I have stick, throttle and rudders.

I've been through 3 sticks, 2 throttles and 2 sets of rudder pedals in 3 years, and all 3 current ones are spiking terribly. One stick and one set of rudders were bad out of the box and they refused to replace the new ones. Shipping the new ones back for repair would have cost me more than buying new ones.

You shouldn't have any problems since you're in the US. Seems like all the ones that don't pass QC get shipped overseas and the good ones stay in the US, which would explain the no warranty on overseas purchased equipment.

Can't believe it and never will get used to it either:

Tell me, how many bucks do you shell out each year in a desperate (and moot  ) attempt to not let your rig get too out-dated? Mind: each year...

You're a simmer? Are you ;) ? Then why do you complain about spending some ("some" if you compare it to what your current video-card has cost you :p ) bucks once to get a HOTAS that will last for years :) ?!

Can't believe it and never will get used to it either...

My video card only cost $120.

CH stick, throttle, and peds, will run about $300.

EDIT: P.S. it was much needed. I can play with less-than-stellar input devices as long as the thing works. On my 4400Ti it was just getting to the point where it wasn't working satisfactorily, and not just AH, in anything else either.

As for the chunk of change I spent on the card, well... If my PC was in 100% perfect running condition I'd have bought a new stick! Have to pick and choose which things you buy.

I like my x-52 it gives me no trouble ever. I plan to get the ch peds cause I know  many people in my squad use them and most of us have the x-52 too. I am looking into getting track ir too but im not sure yet have'nt heard much about it yet. If you do use a track ir send me a pm about it. I would like to know if I should buy it or is it gonna just make things worse.

Mugzee:

Mine stopped bouncing when I moved all the sliders completely to the top. Since then, no troubles at all; when I had tried reducing slider sensitivity it made things worse (even though you'd think bouncing came from OVER sensitivity, right?)

What i think happened is that the low sensitivity got me moving the stick more aggressively, and when I crossed the threshold to the higher sensitivity bands there was an overshoot effect.
