Ever see that "Family Circus" cartoon when they have the little "Not Me" ghost that the kids blame everything on? Thats what its like around here, we have too many people running around saying "Not Me"!
The biggest thing going on right now is the arena changes. While they are "different" things can still be the same, but people don't want to even try to adjust.... Not Me they say! "I want to fly in my horde all safe and sound." "The arena size limits need to be increased.... no decreased!" "I can't fly witth my friends" Everyone complains, or ridicules those that complain. Nobody want to help, again with the "Not Me".
I don't know if this will help, or if some of these suggestions are possible, but instead of complaining, here ....just maybe... are a few solutions.
First we need a news letter. I know Sims, Filth, and Roc did a "Special Event Newsletter" But I've only ever seen the the June issue.... which was pretty good btw and you can get it
HERE, but running a search doesn't find any newer additions. For one to really prosper however more people would have to know about it. Only a small percentage of folk view the BBS so that is not a way to advertise it. If a large enough group should get together to "publish" one.... and it could take a number of voluntiers...maybe HTC could set a M.O.D. in all the arenas letting EVERYONE know its out, or maybe the Aces High community could be given the chance to subscribe to an emailed version monthly.
The reason we need a news letter is first, game update info. I know getting tatalizing bits of info out of HT and company is like pulling teeth sometimes but a dribble once a month couldn't hurt them too much
Second the kind of info the Special Event Newsletter had, interviews with players ( not only "known" players, a good inter view might be seeing the game from a newbies eyes.... remember that first week? ) a plane highlight of the month strenghts weaknesses, uses that kind of thing. Info on t up-coming events. Let people know there is more than just the main arenas. Tech tips on how to keep your computer running tip top. The most inportant section I think could be the "After Action Reports"
The "After Action Reports" is the BIGGEST reason I think we could use the newsletter. "LW1 is full and LW2 only has 30 people in it", another big whine. I think its up to the community to "fix" the arenas. HTC has given everyone more options in how to play the game.... tho some look at it as they "took away our game". The trick here is to get everyone to try something new, break away for the old, comfertable way of doing things. I think the squads should take there sgroups and populate other arenas. As an example lets say the BOPs move to LW2 and say this is our house and we own it. Their AAR are posted showing great victories, winning the map x amount of times last week and so on. Now a rook squad or two looks and says "hey we can't let them walk all over the map like that" and they move in and start giving the BOPs trouble, and start posting their "glowing" AARs. Then a few Knight squads start sneeking in the back door.... as most knight squads are wont to do

... and they start in.
These reports posted to the whole communitty could generate "intrest" in other arenas, it could bring new players in looking to join squads, team up, or just plain find fights. I think the more info that is put out there in front of the communitty, WILL generate more intrest in in ALL aspects of the game. The BBS is not visited by enough people to do it, we need a broader range to show MORE people the many MORE option that are avalible.
btw, I DO NOT work for HTC.... tho I'd love to

I just enjoy many aspects of this game, and I think too many people are missing out on so much just for not knowing.
