Neither *** nor nazi should be blocked. Their usage can be derrogitory, but their meaning isnt, (for the most part). Nazi is a term used by the people who they describe, and therefor, they do not deem it to be derrogitory. *** on the other hand... I have used it (once) and the japanese guys I used it arround didnt so much as frown.

edit: as a rule of thumb however, I avoid usage of words such as *** or 'Nip' regardless of who my present company is.

it all depends on the context the word is used.

saying "YOU J**" or "YOU N***" is not right should meet with VERY VERY strong hand from mods.

however saying something like "J** planes turn well" shouldnt be class as a insult, its just a shorter (faster) word than japanese. hell you have to use "txt spk" in the txt buffer because its so short.

however something like, "N*** planes" would be wrong, because they arnt N*** they are german.

Exactly. But that begs the question: Should the word 'Nazi' itself be 'bleeped?'

Nope.

There were Nazis.  They were proud to be Nazis.  The term accurately describes them.

There were never "j..s"  It was an expression invented by Westerners to demean Japanese.

i think nazi should be bleep'ed, while J** shouldnt. There isnt many ways to use the word nazi politely. Especially in MA / general discussion environment.

plus, im 95% sure the world nazi is banned in Germany, and even france?

however if J** continues to be stopped, maybe HTC should stop Brit, Scot, limey, yank commie, redneck, *insert random name* as well?

I agree with the second part, however I dont think 'Nazi' should be bleeped, because often when people on these boards talk about history (Which is very common) they must use the word nazi to describe the Whermacht and the Third Reich.
