Cable. Definitely better.

Not without its own drawbacks, but far far better than DSL.

I had DSL (1.5) where I used to live and as I remember only got booted from AH 1 time.

when I moved several miles away I was forced to get comcast cable(4-8?)

I get discod much more frequently and loss of UDP.

the cable is faster for downloading files by far but I miss the DSL I had for AH.(the cable seems to get spurts of packet loss)

Im sure you could go to another community and find the exact opposite is true .. this is just what I had here.

I think it all depends on the provider.  I have had cable high speed (Charter) since it first came out in my area.  I have no problems with it.  Grimm lives not far away and he has DSL (Century Tel), it also works well with no problems.  We both have several PCs networked to our modems.

I upgraded my modem when I upgraded my internet package and haven't been disco'ed in over a month. I was using the motorola that Cox sent me when I joined up a couple years ago, but it was networked at 10MB/s and I needed a 10/100 network connection to fully use my internet. I checked newegg.com and read the reviews before I bought the D-Link DCM-202.

In summary, check your modem. It can cause connection problems.

DSL or Cable???

It really depends on which part of the country you are in.  Cable here is really bad.  DSL is much better.  Of course, it depends on the flavor of DSL you have available in your area too.  DSL encompasses a very wide range of product.

Overall, DSL should be better as you are not sharing the physical connection with everyone in your neighborhood.  That alone makes it more secure and potentially more stable.

Best thing to do is to find people locally and ask them what they have experienced.
