i can niether confirm or deny the identity of person in monkey suit...nor can i confirm or deny the identity of last years easter bunny.

if it was me, i might say that i would have been reluctant to do so at first, believing that the people who do things like that must be card carrying memnbers of the freak culture...but that i might have relented when the Mrs. gave me "the look"...i might also have felt better about the whole deal once i realized how very happy it made all the little idol worshippers that make up the youth of our consumer culture.

i would imagine that getting such unconditional love and hundreds of hugs from little unjaded people would be enough to give a person a bit more faith in the world and a huge charge to the positive energy battery...but i'm not saying that i know anything about that.

i bet it is hotter than hades in july in there too.

The first ex-wife volunteered me to be santa at our oldests son's school way back when.

After the kids party we trucked over to a party one of the families was having, - lots of mom's with a little encouragement from Santa got their pictures taken on Santa's lap also, for about 2 hours, luckily one or two of the mom's were also quite fond of the liquid refreshment that all manly santa's like.
Needless to say

Was never asked to be Santa again

That kids play area looks familiar.  Isn't that in the mall right across the road from the beach in Destin?  If so then my kids play there all the time when we come down to go to the beach and the wife does her shopping.
