id like to try a little theory, but need some volunteers.
as you all know 999000 and myself fly low basicaly to gun but bomb also

here is something id like to try and its going to take help from all sides
id like to get a group of people together lets say 10 sets of buffs maybe(with gunners if possible)then i would like to announce it on 200,say were we are headed and have as many that would like to attack to do it.i wanna do this for numerous reasons 1)cause it would be cool2)to see how many would make it 3)to proove a point! if any one would like to try it respond here and we could set it up this weekend,we currantly are knights but can switch at any time

if its a bad idea and sorry for the terrible read .

Im in!

PS..when we do little events in the AvA, thats pretty much what we do. Both sides know whats going on, and the emphasis is on the battle, nothing else.

An example would be a bomb run. We dont try to sneak in, we let everyone know what the target is and keep the sides even. We have a lot of good players in here that make it work.

  Let me know when!

Read again.  #3 said he wants to prove a point, so I figured I'd ask.  Is that allowed?  Please let me know because I would not want to upset you with my posts in the future :lol

My guess would be that a close formation of buffs that are well gunned, can penetrate thru to target at low altitude providing the sides arent too out of whack.

During virtual combat, they will not keep their formations.  Even if all the bombers have gunners, the pilots will tend to want to gun as well and therefore, not stay in their spot of the formation.

The bombers will not survive.  I've done it with my squaddies, and we kick arse as long as they come attack us in 1 or 2 planes at a time.  Anymore than 3 and it gets difficult.  Stay high and that will give you a better chance of defending yourself.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

And with that many bombers in one small space, launching air to air rockets should be a snap too...

Bugs,Filth is right on the point although, there is a fine point to it but that will be a post after the affect,

im not sure when all the bob and ava are i am usualy on late after wife ack and kids are in bed any preference on times im in the eastern time zone

Kermit, you are probaly correct  but i think some may survive if it is well planned.just my opinion but i have been working on some things with angle attacks and such that will be of value i think might be the only thing i can give to the community on my end but it might make people enjoy gunning buffs and or attacking them a little more

will work on date times etc.

BOB is usually over after 5 central standard time.  I'd recommend for maximum participation sometime Saturday night because it conflicts with no events and most of the interesting football games will be over :)

might interfere with FSO's for some people that would participate and give it the attention it deserves.

I think it's an interesting theory esp if the bombers all have gunners.. Sure to be good film fodder

My old squad, the Oddcaf/ Karaya/Uknome/47Ronin, did a Ploesti re-enactment one night on the large pac map (with the gv fights in the middle)--- takeoff point to first target (refinery, somethin like that) was about 6 sectors, NOE, about 12 sets B24's---made a Cv flash about 2/3 the way to first target--(Ghi apparently saw it)--- We popped up at the first target/refinery to about 2k, dropped 500 pounders, then split into 2 groups, went east and west, each group to hit one other strat-type target, again NOE--by this time, GHI and a few buds were after us, and it was a running fight for the next 5 sectors back to nearest friendly base--(we had to go around a big island that housed one of their bases) We shot all of them down at least once, as they were having a bad time getting out in front and doing a proper attack--(even WITH a proper attack, deck buffs present a more difficult target, as you cant pass below, gives you less room to avoid the hail of '50s). Were killing one fighter after another after another, and more of B24's were getting shot down--One of our cv's was about one sector from the landing spot, and some of the dead guys upped in fighters to escort back the survivors. who were all about out of ammo..oil, aluminum, etc. Managed to get maybe 2-3 guys of the original 12 back to base---was the coolest experience I've had in 6-7 years of AH (oh yah...I got 1 plane back..2 engines, no gear--landed 8 kills:) )
