And have some firewood on hand this year. Ive taken a few hours this afternoon stacking some of it. Now I know why the luxury of oil heat is so expensive.  This blows.

thats what seperates us from the animals man!  All we need to do is flip a switch, we get heat.  Same with hot water and cold food.  Ice!  think about it!  Hell...the Bic lighter is a frikkin marvel of human evolution through advanced engineering.  Im betting there are places in afganistan where human life isn't as valued as a Big lighter....or a orio cookie!

It got me thinking with all this North Korea crap going on, how fragile our way of life is. I tried to imagine myself foraging for food, scavanging firewood...I could'nt.

I think I worked too hard at too young an age, for too long. I'm burnt out on work I guess.

I dearly love cutting firewood. The next house will have more than one fireplace and a big woodburning stove.

Since my mother and my mother-in-law are both getting away from wood heat, my big Stihl chainsaw is going to sit pretty much dormant for a while. I used to love to split wood as well, but after I got out of shape it gave me a headache, so we got a power splitter. It's gone now, so I'll have to get in better shape or buy another one.

Comon filth ya gotta luv choppin and stacking firewood.

It's the only legal way to use an axe a sledge a maul and a wedge.

oh and don't forget the chainsaw.
(won't go into the illegal ways to use them)

not to mention the money you save for a day of work.

i never though of the dough you save, but thats about my favorite project, taking down a big tree in the spring & having it ready to burn by fall.  i dont know how much $ i save, cause i keep breaking mauls, but i've learned that a penny saved is a lot more than one earned (it is tax free)
