More dumba&& questions
« on: October 10, 2006, 06:24:53 PM »
Just finished my two-week trial and am now a paying member. Glad to be back in the flight sim realm. My last stab at it was back in '99 with WarBirds 2.77 (yeah...easy mode lol). Got out because it wayyy too time consuming and let's be honest here, an ADDICTION.

Anyway, I look forward to flying here at Aces High. I am however at a loss. While having to get used to all the stalls, black-outs, red-outs and flat out G -pulling stresses I keep finding myself in, I still have yet to learn how to give a "check-six." In the aforementioned sim, I believe we just used a mouse and highlighted the player in question and double clicked. But now, with so many folks using the vox and what not, well can anyone clue me in to accomplishing this task?

On the subject of "six-calls" I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who's helped me out by reminding me to look-back. If I don't answer or thank you please don't think me the snob...I'm just slow on the radio lol.

Perhaps I'll be using the headset soon.

Regards

Hi Margin and Welcome!

Are you using a mouse now or stick? If so, which stick?

If you want we can meet in the Training Arena (TA) and sort out your
concerns.

Margin, also you can ck someone from the tower, a gv, you name it where ever they be in relation to you.  When it's crowded, I sometime ck the wrong person, but folks don't seem to mind at all.

You can also TOGGLE the six call (' key) between the icons in sight by pressing ' repeatedly in quick succession. The one the highlight stays on gets the call (After a second or two).

And like Ren already said: Come to the TA, look up the trainers.... wed be happy to help you get your rust off :).

Well, the ' key needs to be reworked.  When multiple friendlies are around and you are also engaged in a fight, the system seems to pick every 'safe' plane first before it finally selects the one in danger.  Usually as he blows up, lol

Hey, my thanks to all who replied. Yeah I think some time in training would be a good idea and maybe this weekend (if I can sneak it past the girlfriend :) I'll give it a go.

Till then Check Six and Keep the Faith!

Oh, and about what I use to fly...it's a Saitek Cyborg 3D. A good stick. It's got me through Falcon 4.0 and a few other sims. Got the twist rudder which would seem to eliminate the need for pedals.
I've had others including the Logitech type, but by far I like this one best.

And hey...I've yet to see any B-25's, or P-39's, are there any plans to incorporate these into the game? How's about the B-29?

Again, thanks!

The Cyborg 3D is indeed a great stick. Bless it with Holy Water before entering the skies of AH because any and all Saitek joysticks tend to get "nose-bouncy" in this game. Not saying the game causes nose bounce in conjunction with Saitek sticks per sae, but that's my experience.

Good luck!

From another ex-WB 2.77 - Welcome.  IMHO the #1 feature of AH is the excellent vox com.  My advice is get a headset/mic - esp if typing is poor like me.
