Sooooooooo.

Anyone have ideas on how this setup should work?  Expect gray skies, and lots of wind. :D

Oops. Started another thread on it, this one wasn't here yet when I started typing. :)

I'll cut-n-paste it here.

June 2-3, 1942: Nearly six months to the day after Pearl Harbor, the Japanese struck again on American soil. The bombing of Dutch Harbor signalled the beginning of the Aleutian Campaign and led, in part, to the evacuation and internment of American civilians for the duration of the war.

On 6-7 June, 1942, the Japanese followed the Dutch Harbor raid with an invasion of American soil. After months of reconnaissance, they landed on Kiska and Attu Islands in the Western Aleutians, over 1,000 miles from Dutch Harbor.

So it's Summer of 1942, what we have available are: A20G, B26B, P40B and P40E vs A6M2, B5N2 and D3A1. With C47 and M-series for both. I don't think that the Allies will need both bombers, maybe just have one of them enabled.

Ideas and comments welcome.

You just enjoy pwning me . . .

:aok

Sadly, by the time I am able to come on, most people have already left . . . Hope this helps bring them in for a longer period.

So, is this supposed to be after the Japanese have already landed, or is it set up to be the invasion (like a mini-scenario)?

Dux, would you happen to have a postable picture of this map, to assist discussion?

Also:  Thanks to Dux and the map developers from everyone.  I understand that this Aleutians map is 68Falcon's work, yes?

Quote from the Head Duck of the Terrain Team, mr. Dux: "There is also an abundance of fleets..."

So maybe it could be a 1943 setup with the Japanese being driven out from the Aleutians. It would give us more carrier-based planes to play with.

I'll be making the setup tomorrow, anyway. I think I'll start with the 1942 one (the planes mentioned in my earlier post), depending on the terrain (I haven't seen the base layout yet), and then we can adjust it as required, and add more planes as we proceed. :)

One bug we know about (and has already been fixed for the next release) is that V11 has an airfield icon on it... A11. It really is a v-field, so do not plan to fly from field 11.

why not up troops required to capture a bit.  I just logged on to fly around a bit and some guy is busy capturing bases all by himself.  you'll get the map crashed again otherwise.
