ALL ALLIED SQUADS:

  to all this was a great fight.  In real life the British got there tails handed to them.

  We on the other hand held our own to the very end.

  Great com's and calls of enemy locations.  That was key to our success.

  The enemy tryed a late second run with JU 88's and I dont think any of them landed due to 5 still in the air as the clock ran out

  LOWTEC from the 325th made the plan and only helped out at the end in the CIC mode.  Sorry if this caused any confusion.

  The next frame should be just as good!

412th had a pretty good night, flew on a course that would put us East of 23 , but it started flashing before we made it to station.

We high tailed it over to 23 to find a group of Kates level bombing 23 and Zeros as Escort. We dove in on the Kates and we shot a bunch down, I became target fixated and a Zeke latched on to me. I was forced to bail out over 23.

Logged off and came back around later and to my suprise Midnight and Pand, were both still up and claimed 4 a piece I think.

Axis, Good fight!

Will get up official scores and results later. But preliminary basically shows the frame was a draw.

The allies were unable to save P14 or A23. Rangoon was hit but lightly. Meanwhile the Axis successfully defended A27 and only lost the CA but none of the DDs.

Basically the Axis took the JABO portion of the frame outscoring the Allies about 2 to 1 when in destroying ground targets. Part of this was do to the Allied bomber squads having light turnout.

However, in the airwar the Axis took a severe beating from fighting through and hitting targets. With the allies ranking in 2 to 1 points in air to air.

Still calculating but right now the difference between the two sides is 10 points.

Axis won ground. Allies won air. However, frame 2 will see the Japanese gain bases.

There will be fine tuning done for frame 2.

Not sure what everybody's take on the frame was. However, I do have to say that after flying last night it matched what I read about. Long distances and fronts to cover. Slower planes, allies doing a good job in the air but unable to stop the ground invasion, etc., etc.

Also the numbers, while much, much lower than I expected, held up through the night quite well (even or close for the most part) and we had fighting going on right until the last minutes.

Last night was intense on several different levels.

My group was tasked with scouting out in advance of the main bomber group trying to locate the fleet and sink it.  4 of us scouting in a 4 sector operations area.  We missed the fleet on our egress flight, she must have been up near A30 as I pulled one of the pilots down from there so we wouldn't trip the base warning.  Found her on the way back in on our return flight.

Great time to find her, we were all heading home with out fuel lol  WOW now There's immersion for you.  RTB or Sink the sucker and Hope.  The bombers did have a low turnout, but they scored, and many of us managed to get back to base and refuel.  Now, that was an experience in itself, as the low turnout made us do everything we could to keep our planes. RTB lasted a good half hour, and we were all doing what we could to keep flying.  Pilots out front were calling out where the gaps in the hills were, when to get alt, all the while watching minutes click away.  Many of us were turning off our planes, gliding as long as possible, and starting back up to regain momentum.  A few didn't make it, alot of us stalled on approach to the rearm pad and rolled onto it lol

That was white knuckle all the way.  Then we got back up and chased some bombers over HQ and found a flight of zeros at A23 that we engaged.  

Well Done on the event, lots of action, drama, and totally got swept up in trying to survive.

Clowns had a grand time, but we were short staffed and got a big spanking about 30 minutes into the frame.

AK's and us were escorting JU88's into HQ, when we noticed a couple enemy sneaking up from low behind.  Since AK's were higher and out front of the bombers, Clowns went after this group killing one and chasing the other away...  It seemed like things were on our side..

We got further from the bombers than I wanted to be so I reigned in the squad and we began to make a cruise climb to catch up and get altitude (I hate being below the bombers I'm supposed to help.

It was about this time I got a sinking feeling in my gut that the two sneak bogeys were intended to be a distraction (to draw the escort down and away) and we were going to end up facing a large force high..

About 3 minutes after I told my squad what my gut was saying it happened, wildcats everywhere, higher than us but lower than AK, they got past AK's and into the bombers and it was brutal.  In less than 2 minutes my 4 pilots were consigned to Davy Jones locker.

Overveiw of the ALLIED plan:

  Last night was all about recon and placement of combat power.  Our recon elements and everyone that made reports to higher played a key role.  Without these reports Lowtec and I could have never manuvered the combat power to decisive engagements.

  Lowtec and I decided that the main point value was Ragoon (as per the rules) thus we placed more effort there.  Like wise we knew that once the airfields to the south were distroyed we would no longer defend them and shift our remaining strength north to defend against a late strike JU-88 raid.  Another key factor was in the set up for the AXIS.  Lowtec and I watched for reports of the B5N's and their strengths that were reported throughout the map.  Every B5N received a second life which meant to us a "Large" second strike late frome with JU-88's.  this was confirmed in the first 15 minutes of the game with the large fighter sweep to Ragoon that failed.  My mistake was in not vectoring AC fast enough to Ragoon late frame.  I hesitated 10 minutes waiting for the situation to develope further.  Hind site I should have acted on my gut instinct.
  Overall Lowtec and I were very pleased with the actions of the ALLIED side as a whole.   to all of the Squad CO's that manuvered your elements to where we could apply our combat power the most effenciently.  

ROC:

  Read your comments about being out of fuel and gliding home.  Outstanding job!  And I agree last night everyone did a great of staying alive and not losing AC.  On the other hand the AXIS flew, in humble opinion one way missions.  Not all did, but alot of them did.  Which meant they stayed on station longer than they should have and paid the price.  I saw the same bombers orbiting over a target for 10 minutes.  It was just a matter of time before someone got to them and shot them down.

412th:

  Assume job!  You guys really put up a good show in the central sector.  When I saw the amount of kills for the amount of guys you brought into the SEA I was impressed.  Great job.  Supply is out of paint to mark your kills on your AC.  try back later!

I (325th) and 56th:

  Were in the biggest SEA furball I have seen in a long while.  I believe the intent of the AXIS CIC was to fighter sweep the north sector (Ragoon) which would then allow for the late second strike by JU-88's as we all saw.  One small problem:  325th saw them 75 miles out and the 56th vectored right to them!  The 56th fought them low in F-4's and the 325th fought them high in P-40's dividing their strength.  There must have been 40 to 50 battling AC in a 3 miles wide area from 12K down to the ground.  This furball lasted at least 15 minutes with no quarter taken or given.  Great job 56th!  Everyone needs to read the logs and see how many AC the 56th shot out of the air.  This was an impressive fight!  One for the record books in my opinion.   56th.

The late strike:

  Great job to all the reduced strength squads and stragglers that rallied to Ragoon to pretect it.  We may not have been able to vector fast enough to stop the attack but most of the JU-88's were lost during egress or landing after H+120.  The AXIS using late frame strikes with unescorted JU-88's was a big mistake and they paid for it.  If the AXIS side would have towered all remaining AC at H+60 they would have won!  Conintuing the fight cost them this frame.

The Attacking squads (Field / shhips)

  To the attacking squads that made the attacks as were required by the rules of the frame.  Lowtec made the decision to place smaller squads out there to accomplish these missions.  The point value of the target didnt balance against a large strike package being sent.  In short we would have lost more than we would have gained (points).  However when I saw in the buffer that the field and ships had been struke and a crusier was sunk I was more than pleased to say the least.  You guys had the hardest missions and you accomplished them well.

Last comment:

  The real battles were utter defeats to the British and commonwealth allies.  Last night we stood our ground and forced a draw.  This is a big victory for the ALLIED side (Frame 01).  If we can continue to force draws in the next 2 frames we will win!

  When was the last time you saw a down in the mud knife fight with 2 minutes left in the frame!  You guys were like hungry dogs and I couldn't get you to disengage and land!  God this was a great frame!!  Let all of the guys know that didnt come that they missed a GREAT fight.  One of the best I have seen.
