My suggestion on adjusting the ranking system
« on: October 18, 2006, 12:05:05 PM »
I want ranking to be done on much more important aspects of the game:

-Augering with style points.
-Landing with a dead engine.
-Landing while on fire
-Belly landing skills
-Landing with no ailerons
-Landing with no elevators.
-Landing with most of one wing missing
-Landing while bleeding and blacking out

All of the above get extra points for actually landing on the runway. (I'm still working hard to reach this point in my flying career)

-Plane wreckage dispersal points. (My plane that is)

-Points given for the number of times you fly through the enemy hangers with extra points being given to those doing it while being chased by 1 or more enemy planes or with flak (manned or auto) still operating on the field.  This includes Osti's M16s etc as well.

-The above done while inverted.

-The above being done with a damaged plane or while bleeding and blacked out.

-Points given for the number of times you enter the fight below the badguys and outnumbered.  (I know I stress this as important to the guys in my squad.)

-Points given based on the number of sorties where you don't overfly an obvious fight just to vulch or attack a building.

-Points given for switching teams to help even out the sides.

I'm sure there are more ways to give points and rank people but this is what seems important to me.

The only fair system is to let people give themselves points and ranking.

With the addition of 3 new arenas it is easy to milk the ranking system. I think hitting strats should be taking out of the ranking system. It is to easy to abuse this to reflect a higher rank than what a person should have. I know that i am not that good of a fiter pilot but am working on it. But I know some of theses low scores do not reflect how good the person really is just because he goes into an arena with no one to defend while he works the strats to raise hi rank. I could start dropping names on who i have found hitting strats to keep low score but will not. Like I said in my opinion some of these very low rank are undeserving because of strats. I know this will create a buzz but its true.

The first landing I ever did was while I was bleeding and half-dead, and I haven't had a single successful landing since!

I try and help out newbies by looking at the map or talking to my kids while flying.  That way the newbies get their first kill.  I should get points for being so helpful.  By the time they have 5 kills, they don't need me to be distracted to kill me.
