St. Louis Cardinals, a Major League Baseball team, and one of the most storied teams in the game. The Pennant means the Cardinals are the champions in their league, (National League) and will be playing the champions of the American League in the World Series. The Cards have won 17 Pennants in their history (among the top three in the National League) and have gone on to win 11 World Series titles (tops in the NL, and the best winning percentage in the League).

   ESPN and the rest of the national media better SHUT THE @#%& UP now.

TAKE THAT POND SCUM!!!

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

The Mets were supposed to sweep the Cards, too, and look how that turned out.

The St. Louis pitching staff has been outstanding in the post-season except for the Game 5 meltdown. Weaver I think has surprised EVERYBODY with his performance, and Suppan was nearly unhittable. Carpenter is one of the best pitchers in baseball when he's on (he wasn't bad in Game 6, but he wasn't at his best). I'm worried about Reyes, yes, but he's proved he's got some nasty stuff.

The biggest surprise by FAR was the bullpen. Wainright has settled it pretty nicely as closer (oh my god, that curve is absolutely wicked. Full 12 to 6, and 20mph speed difference with his fastball, which is mid-90s) and there's a lot of young arms showing that they can PITCH.

Maybe the offense hasn't really clicked the way it should, but I'll take our 1-8 against any team in baseball

By "Cards" you mean a full house, straight flush or such hand?

And by "pennat" you mean these things?:

St Louis, sweep or no sweep as long as they beat the Tigers. I'd love to see a total shutout personally :)
