Queue for arenas

I dig the new change. However, if I were in a squad, I'd be a bit peeved since there's no gaurantee you can get into the arena your buddies are in.

So, how about a Queue? Select your arena, and if its full, you have the option to either wait in line for a spot to open in the arena you desire, or automatically divert to the arena with an open spot. It would be a bit friendlier and not make squad nights a major hassle.

Take it a step further, and I know this would require a client release, but have comms come up as soon as you're logged in so you can find out where to go, or depending on populations, queue up at.

Knowing you've got a 3 minute wait, imho, is a bit nicer than just being dumped whereever and having to quit & rejoin continuously.

AH could also do with a server browser so we can see who is in which arena.

The queue might be possible. But could not realy put a timer on it, only how many others are in queue.

Also I might be tweeking some of the expansion rate numbers. The goal is realy to always have room to get in an arena when you want to.

The next release will also contian chat possibly voice at the arena selection screen, I.E. Lobby that will also give you private chat / find type commands to the arenas.

Right on. World of Warcraft handles their PvP Battlegrounds somewhat similarly. You go to the NPC that handles the joining. It gives you a menu of the available battlegrounds. You can pick 1, and wait in the queue for if/when a spot opens. Alternatively, you can hit the first available button, and it will queue you for the first open spot in whatever type of battleground you wanted.

Then you get a small icon, that on a mouseover, shows how long you've currently waited, and the current average wait time for that type of battleground (there's 3 kinds, with 10-150 instances of each at any given time). It won't show you how many people are waiting... I doubt it could given the relatively new way they brought clusters of world servers together to feed the battlegrounds. Previously it was server specific and there was only a handful of arenas, and finding an open spot was difficult at best. It also allows you to queue up as a group for 2 of the 3 types of arenas (10 vs 10 & 15 vs 15, 40 vs 40 does not have the group join option) so you always enter the battleground with your friends.

I think I can speak for most & say that lobby chat & global player finds without jumping into an arena is going to be really nice. :)

that would be a start thanks.

arena number tweaking... maybe it should start lower? i know this is probably the oposite you THINK ive been whining about, but my problem is not just wanting massive arenas, but its having populated arenas. off peak so far has been 120 in one, and about 20 spread in the other 4 arenas.

Maybe the split should be something like 80, 160, 240, upto the 300 cap (100 per side you're max?). This way, off peak should be something like 80 in one arena, 60ish in the other? this would be much more successful for off peak periods of play.

OR

oposite. 1 large 300player arena for each style of play, then at a set time (before US primetime), that limit reduces while secondary increases?

i think i prefer the first.

How about having a box ingame that lets you know the numbers in the given arenas? Something where if your squaddies are in LW1 and you got dumped into LW2 then you can monitor the usage and make a change rather having to try to log out and back in hoping you get in.

ive asked a few time for a roster that has tabs to allow you to see who, and how many are in each arena..... however i think thats far too much coding (and bug testing) to be a short term goal.
