when you go to reinstall, do you physically delete the AH folder?

maybe it is keeping some graphics settings saved in a file there?

Might want to reinstall your video card drivers and if that doesn't do the trick, try deleting all the files in your AH cache folder.  If the game still doesn't load after that then try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.  A pain in the arse I know but sometimes we must make sacrafices when it comes to our addictions.

When you need help fast, this is the best forum to ask for it.  I look in here qith great regularity, as do othres who are trying to help (big salute to those folks).

Need more information.  What video card and drivers does the computer have?  Best to post the top half of the DXDIAG output.

Run DxDiag and then hit the 'Save All Information' button and save the .txt file where you can find it.
Then cut-n-paste the top 1/3ish in your post.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

Here are the steps to do this:

1) Go to "Start" from the Windows desktop
2) Select "Run" from the pop up menu
3) In the Run dialog box, type DXDIAG and press
4) After a few seconds the DXDIAG utility will be ready (the progress indicator in the lower left corner will disappear).
5) Run the video and sound diagnostics (Select the Display and Sound tabs to do this).
6) Press the "Save All Information" button
7) This will save the DXDIAG data to a file of your choice
