Welcome.

I'd invest some time in the Training Arena, you can't do wrong by going there.

Don't bother with the Offline stuff, you will develop nasty habits shooting offline birds that don't shoot back.  You'll have to Then spend your time in the TA Unlearning, and then Relearning the game, so just go there right off the bat.

The resources available here are nearly unlimited.  Everyone has an opinion on how Best to do it.  Best you can do is First, Join the Community, then try and figure out how to fly ;)

There is a Trainers Forum you might want to frequent, as well as a dedicated training arena.

Brace yourself when you enter the boards and the main arenas, you will be occasionally rewarded for your efforts and Mostly abused as a baby seal on a baseball bat demo campaign.

Welcome to AH.

Welcome to the game ,if you can go along with the mud slinging that goes on in here from time to time, you'll be as good as gold.  Just sit back , laugh and consider yourself a hero when someone calls you a cheater.

Welcome to your new addiction:aok

What you were expecting comes more in the arena than here. Unless, of course, you say something really stupid....and that would not be a function of being new. :D

Hope you have good luck and good fun...I have for years now. :)

wthig, welcome to your new addiction :D!

As has already been said, the Training Arena (TA) and the Help & Training Forum are usually the best place to get answers. Offline is a good place to practice takeoff and landing, as well as your maneuvers. If you prefer company doing that, the TA is the place to go (this will trigger your 2 week free trial).

Also, the trainers homepage http://trainers.hitechcreations.com will provide you with info on setup, game, flying basics, BFM/ACM and Air Combat tactics. Feel free to contact the Trainer Corps for scheduled training.

This community is mainly a good one. A few bad apples and a few village idiot included of course :). If you dont take yourself and the game too serious and treat others with respect, its easy to get along here.

I think the offline part definately can help but you get out of it what you put into it.
You just fly around on a drones 6 and shoot, you wont get many benefits. You come at them from different angles and that definately can help. IMO, it's the first stage of learning gunnery and the lead required. You get familiar with that lead on a target flying a fixed but not straight flight path.

As mentioned you can certainly do takeoffs, landings, and some of the more basic commands as well as set up your joystick and even AHVoice, just remember to tune to 'server' and you can hear how you sound [similar to the ingame .radio 5 yourgameID command].

If you go into the arena settings and change ProterctObjects you can practice ground attack and divebombing without having those pesky enemy field guns bothering you. It allows you to blow stuff up at a friendly field so you can practice and see the results which you can't do in the Training arena.

Welcome to Aces High

Find someone who flys the plane you want to learn and either ride with them for a few flights or wing with them for a few.

Most of us are glad to help out someone willing to learn how to fly "our" way, as we're convinced its not only the only right way to do it, but that anyone who flies differently is a heathen worthy of scorn. :)
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I can read it.  Been there in da Nam and chose to be old fashioned.  Had a wife and kid (3 months old) when I went.  Had to face me when I returned.  No bad to anyone, just thought I was gonna die.   :) :) :)

Will try to learn all I can before I bore ya'll with flyin.  I expect to be shot down quick at first and that's OK.  It is for fun and that is why I am here.  For those that help me, thks in advance and I already feel welcome..

;)
