Looking for photo or profile of a P-47
« on: October 21, 2006, 08:06:15 PM »
Looking for anything anyone has on the P-47-D "Pied Piper" from the 318th Fighter Group. Its the aircraft pictured on the cover of SS's "Thunderbolt- the Republic P-47 in the Pacific Theater", but I can find no photos or profiles of it anywhere.

Heres the book cover.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

You can find a picture of P-47-D "Pied Piper" from the 318th Fighter Group in this book: The Repobilc P-47 Thunderbolt in the Pacific Theater, by Ernest R. McDowell. Squadron Signal Publications.

Yeah, I have the PF skins of it, but Im looking more for actual photos or "official" profiles.

I don't trust some of the interpretations, I'd rather see an actual photo of the bird in question. :)

Try asking at armyairforces.com 58th FG forum ?  Maybe someone has some information or can point you in the right direction.
