Laptop memory help
« on: October 21, 2006, 09:24:40 PM »
Im thinking about upgrading my laptop's memory.
My laptop memory slot specification is...

* SODIMM 200-pin
* 2.5 volts
* DDR 1 (Double-Data-Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory)
* My laptop can handle 1 gig RAM maximum (2 slots of 512mb RAM).  What I currently have inside are 2 slots of 256mb RAM, DDR1, PC2700 333Mhz

Is the following 200-pin / 2.5v / SODIMM memory upgrade compatible for my laptop?

* PC3200
* DDR1
* 400Mhz

Normally memory is downward compatible but just to be safe, ask a vendor about it before buying. Laptops can be tricky with hardware sometimes.

Ripley is quite right.  Typically all the hardware in a laptop is proprietary.  Best bet is to get it from the manufacturer.  Even if the pin count is the same, you cannot be assured it will work.
