My guess is a graphics driver problem.

Yep looks like a driver issue.

53gunner what are your computer specs?

Which video card are you running? and do you know the driver version?

Looks like the video card may be overheating.

Have you checked your temperatures?

Such artifacts also happen when a GC is about to die (heat or otherwise).

No idea if it would help but try reseating the video card and maybe the system memory while you have the case open.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

Well heres the latest. I went to video setup and checked the one that says "video matrixing" or something like that (maybe it was optimization). Its the middle one on the left. That got rid of the wierd stuff. Now I have slow frame rates as I did in my other help string. So Im kinda at the end of my rope. I have no idea where to go from here. If I lower everything down (graphics wise) I get the wierd "cloud things" and if I up it a little I get slow frame rates. I was running this game fine on a computer that was less capable than the one Im on now so I have no idea what to do. BTW I tried the reseating stuff(actually installed more RAM) didnt seem to make a difference
Thanx

from what I can find, this is an on-board video card right? Making sure the anti-alising, and the anisotropic-filtering are set to off, or aplication pref. You can do this by right clicking the desk top and selecting properties, settings, advanced, advanced 3D, dirextX ( thats were mine is). You maybe over working the "chipset".

Kinda helped but still have about the same thing. Ive read about junking the ATI drivers (and the catalyst prog) and going with different drivers (omega??) think that may help?
Thanx for all the help so far

I run the omega drivers on my card. The problem with on-board video is it uses your computers memory, so the more the video works the more it hits the memory, and AH really uses video.

What setting are you using in the game....click the video settings on the clipboard. If your resolution is at 512, drop it down to 256 and try again. I would make sure pre-load skins was off too, just to free up some memory. It sounds to me that the video is just not up to running as video intence game as AH, so I would try turning stuff down.

Yeah I had everything turned down and thats when I started getting the wierd cloud effect. I new issue that started tonight is when I try to start the game it locks up. It stops loading on the initial screen and I cant get to the clipboard.

you may want to take the covers off your computer and blow all the dust out of it. This is really starting to sound like a heat issue. I clean mine out once a month or so. I don't live in a pig stye, but you can't imagine the dust that will build up in there. If fans quit running, or vents get closed up it will shut down things that pull alot of juice like this game.
