What type of motherboard do you have?  If it uses the AMD 750 "Irongate" north bridge controller there is a known problem with GeForce cards.  (Note:  This is for Athlon systems.) The solution (workaround) is to go to AGP 1x speed and disable anything like "agp turbo mode" in the bios.  There are also new drivers available from MB manufactures that automatically select AGP 1x when a GeForce card is detected.  (EPOX's K7 MB is one in particular that I have heard about.  VIA is another.)  BTW:  I put a paragraph about this into the AH faq file that I posted a while back.  HTC also added my faq file to theirs.

AMD has yet to fix this problem.  What causes it is the 750 chipset cannot accept two way data on the AGP bus on the same clock pulse.  (This is a feature of GeForce called "FastWrite.")

Here's what you might try:  First download the newest drivers for your motherboard.  (AGP drivers are specifically what you are looking for.)  Put back in the GeForce card and get and install the latest drivers for it as well.  If you STILL have the problem, go into your bios and try disabling things like "agp turbo mode", "agp palette snooping", also try changing the memory setting for AGP to the smallest value that you can.  Hopefully by now you should have it working, but if not, try removing your video card drivers in "add/remove programs", restarting, then reinstalling them.  Another way to do this (if you can't uninstall the drivers from there) is to right click destop, pick properties, settings tab, advanced, adapter tab, change button, show all hardware radio button, go to microsoft listing, pick "standard vga" and select it.  This will install standard vga drivers.  You will then be forced to restart.  After the restart you can reinstall your video card drivers.  (You might even try this first, it is amazing what incorrectly installed drivers can do.)

Before I forget, make sure you have at least DX 6.1.  7.0a is best.  (This probably isn't your problem, as you were able to play in the past.)

Good luck to you!
