AH LAPTOP for Road Warriors
« on: October 22, 2006, 02:32:20 PM »
I just got my HP  dv2000t with Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00 GHz), 1 Gig RAM, and 128 meg 7200 Go video card.  I use a 58" monitor in Hawaii and 42" in Guam so prolly won't be playing on this 14" screen.:D   I tried AH on it Saturday just for fun with most of the unecessary junk still running.  I got a solid 60 fps offline attacking drones with AH sliders maxed, 512 textures @ 1024x768.  Play was smooth with no stutters and graphics were great with all instruments clearly readable.  I guess the Conroe type processor makes up for the low end video card.:)

I been using my no name Quanta vanilla book laptop (2.2 P-M, 128M6600go, 2G RAM, Turtle Beach USB Roadie) for awhile now, the only drawback a big JS looks nerdy in public. AH plays well otherwise.

Firing up BF2 at the bar always draws a crowd, the old drunks who think the Internet is a rumor can't believe the gov allows such games.

I've been looking at something that can do a little work while I am on the road as well.  I just need to figure out how much I want to split with the company since they have offered to pony up some dollars for this.

I ordered the HP direct online for just over $1200. The CPU upgrade was a big part of the price.  Dell prices were similar.  None of the laptops I saw at Costco, Sam's, Comp USA, Best Buy or CC had separate video cards.
