C205 progress (Where's my bottle of wine, Gatt??)
« on: October 25, 2006, 08:50:04 PM »
It's not done, but I've made some progress. It's impossible to get the panel lines in their proper places because of the way the skin is set up, so I didn't even try to make them accurate. Looking at the screenshots, though, I will make them darker (more visible).

You evil! You know why! :huh

But a promise is a promise. Your bottle of wine is ready for shipping

Nice job even if it is still a WIP :)

I'm 100% guessing as to the starboard side codes. I don't know if they'd switch places or if the yellow 22 would still be forward of the white 2.

The entire thing's too bright right now. It's not weathered at all.

I'm not worried about the dark brown. I might reconsider the tan eventually, or make it a bit darker.

Like all skins that haven't been weathered/treated, it doesn't look "right" at the moment. Hold that thought, and let me know if you still think the same once you see pics of it in a more completed stage.

I used a different source for the colors this time. Which is better?

I'm not too keen on the second one, but I think maybe the first one's a bit too bright. I don't have any Italian color references, though, like I do with LW and US colors.

No, that's just how AH has it modeled. It's a first-generation model, low quality and low resolution, so it's blocky and predates this century.

I think once you apply your usual weathering, the second one will be the better looking of the two.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

But normally isn't it supposed to be a sand/tan color with darker stripes? The second source I used came out a bit darker than I thought. Look at, for example, the default skin, the 109s and 110s with sandgelb color.

Dangit, I think I need more color sources for Italian paint.

I assume you know about this site and don't want to use these, but better safe than sorry.

Italian AC Colors

And testor's online catalog has some info on page 54. http://www.testors.com or goto straight to it here.

Cheers,

Hrm.. I had direct links to German colors and US colors pages on the same website, but not the IT colors! Thanks! I'll try to get another screenshot up sometime tomorrow with those colors.

Krusty, what about posting those pics I sent you regarding Ferdinando D'Amico wonderful camos book? This way we can judge better. BTW it seems to me the first one is more similar to the one on the book.

Okay. I actually picked a representative sample from 2 different pages in order to make my color selection. Not the best way, but I didn't have the link Fencer just showed me :)

EDIT: Does anybody know the name of the green/brown on the herring bone pattern?

Krusty,

Try the second base color with the first green stripes..
