New crysis engine video

Wouldn't it be cool if HTC could license the crysis graphics engine? It looks awesome.

To bad it will need DX10 + Vista so I'll never get to play it outside of xbox360.

North Korea in a tropical iland? :lol Should have made the asteroid fall in an iland next to Cuba, would have remain the same setting, yet more plausible on the "secret infiltration thingy".

Crysis uses Physx?  Isn't that obsolete?
I think it's Carmack who said multicore CPUs would do better.

Cry-Alex seems to be a Crytek dev, saying they don't need physx.

Anyone else playing crysis?

I bought it yesterday with a coupon gift card thingamy I got for Christmas.
Today I have bad carpel tunnel, sore eyes, and a numb arse from sitting at the PC too long :)

Awesome game, lovin' every minute of it so far.

X1650 256, 1 Gig ram and a 3.2 ghz P4.
Everything set either medium or high, and so far it is as smooth a silk.

.....Cloak engaged......;)

Actually now that I've tried Crysis there are a few noteworthy things.

First of all it's available on DX9 on XP. Second DX9 is way much better than DX10. The video I put on display was purely false marketing - the game itself looks nothing like that.

DX10 sucks completely folks. Don't waste your money neither Vista or DX10 is worth it. People have been using the same computer to test and DX9 mode, 30fps vs DX10 mode, 5-10 fps.

Oh and visual quality: Crysis has a fake limitation on image quality which can be circumvented to get 'DX10 only' visuals on DX9. And the funniest part is that DX9 runs faster on those max quality settings than DX10.

I was actually toying with the idea of putting together a ww2 tank/ infantry mod using either Crysis or Far Cry 2 games.

I used to do some modding in the past building maps and various objects but I always wanted to do a full conversion mod. Both Crysis and FC2 have awesome capabilities with jungle/woods.

Not to mention everything in the game can be destroyed. So if you drive a truck into a building it does damage to the building.. Same with trees, you can knock them over and so on.

I used to do a lot of 3D work and can do the 3D work and some of the textures, but I know little to nothing on the coding end.

In regards to aircraft, I really don't think the game engine would support realistic flight models. Not to mention I think it would be restricted by a limited altitude cap.

The cool thing about Crysis is it already has modern tanks in it. So pretty much all the basic physics are built right into the game. So it could fairly easily be used for a ww2 tank mod. (not really easy, much much easier than having to code all that in)

I'm not 100% sure if Far Cry 2 has tanks, so the physics might have to be added, but FC2's has better terrain damage capability.
