Losing stick centering inflight
« on: October 28, 2006, 07:12:05 PM »
Have a MS SW2 FFB, and I'm losing the stick center inflight.  It comes
back when I exit AH.  Anything change in the last day?

This may or may not have something to so with your ploblem, but:

I use combat trim most of the time and I have noticed in the last month that after a hard turn fight outside the FE it is difficult to keep the nose down when trying to go in a straight line. The faster I get the worse it seems. I hit X twice and it corrects itself. All the while the green light is on.

I have had the same problem for years with 3 different sticks of this particular type.

The issue may be also stick related, since now with a new (almost unused) stick I have not had probs for some time. I am not using all AH forces, only the "trim", "stall" and "buffet" are enabled. Nowadays (after the AH update some time back) the stick has no centering force while in tower and sometimes loses the only the sideways centering force e.g. in GVs... and it does not come back even at desktop without unplugging the stick.

How I have dealt with centering force losses:
- Before starting AH, I open the joystick prog from control panel (I have a shortcut on desktop for it)
- I start AH and after I am in tower...
- Alt+tab or windows button takes me back to desktop.
- Click "Properties" from the joystick prog
- Click the " forces" flap/page...

... and I have centering forces immediately back again. They also stay on all the time when I go back to AH.

Previously I often left the plane on alt-X climb after losing forces in the middle of a flight, and went to desktop to get my forces back.
