Nothing wrong with nationalism in good, healthy doses... We need much more of it here.

I wonder what this is going to mean to the world in another 1-2 decades. If history serves us, one thing is for sure. A new wave of Russian emmigration.

Assimilation. This is the keyword. It's normal to expect assimilation from immigrants. But they do not want to assimilate. They want to rebuild the whole country and nation to their porposes, moral and mentality. And it's normal, when the main population is angry on that. You can name it as you want. Xenophoby, nationalism or fascism. But really this is only the wish of main country population, to live as they lived for thousands of years before. With our religion, our moral and our mentality.
What will you say if muslims will ask you not to drink beer at noon on Ramadan? I think you'll tell them the heading where to go. We are doing the same. But our "liberasts" (mix of liberal and pederast) are naming it as neonationalism.

Sure, all of those things... Except that this natural, normal response is taking on the classic Russian form. What is a want for cultural assimilation here, has, in the past, grown into purges and pogroms there. Again, the issue is less tolerance, which, itself, breeds fanaticism from those that are marginalized by the intolerance. The result is a downward spiral.

As for Russian babes(the non-working girls), I think they may be the one saving grace of that society, especially now that many of them have the means to take care of themselves.

Yeah, the world could always use more nationalist socialists.

I can speak for Boroda. It's the universal constant, US dollars.

Many of them are still not so well off, financially-speaking. The prospect of a Green Card, and citizenship is also nothing to be scoffed at. It's not just Americans anymore, though. It's any westerner.

Green Card (aka: Permanent Residence Card)

To some people it's like winning a lottery when you get a green card.

In the US you can go anywhere (in terms of jobs) with this card.

What illegal migrants? Isn't Russia one big soup of different people with a different racial/cultural background?

To Neubob about "free enterprising":

Businessmen that i'll name as examples are Abramovich, Vekselberg and other crooks.

I am aware of the escape-plans of our current "elite" and i wish them to get out ASAP. Usually this fear of "nationalisation" is nothing more then an attempt to find a reason for a planned retreat. How you see this nationalisation? Bolsheviks come again wearing leather jackets and dusty helmets with their mausers?

Your next argument will probably be the fate of poor Hodorkovskiy, so i answer in advance: a thief must be in prison. Gleb Egorovich was right, while the Age of mercy didn't come, we have plenty of coca-cola and chewing gum instead.

Now seriously: small enterprises have problems mostly not because of some evil govt trying to nationalise them, but because the whole system is so rotten that minor govt employees, militia, controling authorities and other parasites use all possible ways to extort money. In 1996 RF had 2 times more govt employees then the USSR in 1990 including Party staff. Now it's much worse.

Actually Beard, I was thinking of mentioning Khodorkovski, but decided not to. He is too big, and generally not characteristic of anything resembling your average private businessman. I also specifically mentioned 'non-crooks'.

I think the last paragraph of your post illustrates my point pretty well. Specifically, the part about minor govt. employees, militia, controlling authorities and these other parasites. These problem, while ongoing and annoying, will tend to require larger government intervention. The threat that these small entrepreneurs feel breathing down their necks is the very same remedy which will be aimed at curbing your 'parasites'. That is why anyone with means, and with brains, is making preparations, however passive, to get up and get out of dodge with the s hits the fan. I am not speaking in theory, Pavel, I am speaking after having observed this very distinct pattern of behavior.

Examples that I've personally seen are numerous. And without going into too much detail, I will say that I do not know of a single well-to-do Russian business man or woman who has put all their eggs in that basket.
