A student gone bad (sad story)
« on: October 31, 2006, 09:56:55 AM »
Hello, gents.
I have been having problems with a thief around the house here for about 5 months.  First he hit the unlocked shed in my backyard and got my lawnmower in May.  Next he hit my locked building in August and got a 27 inch TV and my grandmother's 40 year old Stella Acoustic.  This past Saturday he got into my home.  He was unsuccessful at picking my doors as I have been making sure they were secured.  He tried but failed.  So he kicked through my son's room window.  He got seven guitars which included three bases and one electric guitar and one acoustic electric guitar and two acoustics, one of which was my "baby" that I have had for 15 years and have composed over eighty compositions on.  He also took a portable DVD players of the kids and ransacked both of my medicine cabinets.  The kicker came when I entered the room where I have my computer desk.  Yes, it was gone along with everything but my printer/fax.  He got the modem and signal amplifier as well.  He even took my MS sidewinder 2 and my headset.   Luckily one of my neihbors saw him around the house and alerted me to who it was.  It was an old student who I taught for two years back when he was in the 7th and 8th grades.  I have taught a majority of his cousins and had been very helpful to them giving them free tutoring when they were having problems and never heard anything but thanks from all of them and their families.  His grandparents are my next door neihbors and we are all like family on the block.  I confronted them and they told me he has been having problems with drugs of late.  He is 19 years old.  The police and detective questioned him yesterday morning and afterwards he shot up an overdose of drugs and went over to his father's house and hung himself.  The father caught him in time to revive him and get a pulse before medics arrived and he is now in a coma at the hospital clinging to life.  It has been a relief to finally know who has been burgularizing me and also some anger.  Now that has turned to concern over the young man and confusion.  I will none the less not be on for awhile as I am without computer so I am asking for any positive/prayers energy that can be sent my way.

Man ... that story just spiraled downward ... very sad.

Have the police gone to any/all pawn shops in your area ? ... they just might find some of the most recently stolen stuff.

Good luck and hope to see ya back up soon.

Drugs are not the problem.. the kid took them knowing the possibilities.... only a lawyer would think otherwise, trying to blame everything but the kid... oops adult.

My prayers are with you and your family.. and I hope you recover your stolen goods.

As for the 19 year old.... looks like he'll live to strike again, hopefully no innocents will be killed.

Thnx Casino for the prayers.  Thnx Falcon for your kindness.  Slap, we have but he broke in on Sat night after hours of pwn shops, and all pwn shops are closed on sundays down here, so it looks like he is stashing it somewhere or took it directly to the meth dealer.  Which in either case, we've more than likely lost our stuff.  He is in a coma and is unable to tell us what he did with it at the moment and his family is devasted.  It doesn't seem right for me to even ask about my possession when they might lose their son/grandson.  I say, "our stuff" because two of the bases stolen weren't even mine.  One was my brothers and the other was my bass players.  Luckily he left all the TV's and other electronics, my financial stuff and guns, and he stepped right over a $700 microphone, so it could have been worse.

Damn, man, what a mess. Hope all turns out well for you. Good luck getting your stuff back. I've seen a lady I worked with suffer a similar problem (her daughter's boyfriend broke in while no one was around and stole and pawned some stuff), but she was fortunate enough to recover all of the stolen items from the pawn shops. May you be as fortunate.

Shuffler, I can't tell you how much I want him punished.  So far he is the only one punishing himself but if he lives the law will have its way with him.  I did recover my grandmothers Stella so we know it was him.  I am the one that called the detective and had him brought in yesterday morning.  I am extremely mad at him for disrespecting my home and obviously stealing my CHIT!  But I certainly am convinced that the drugs played a major role in his decision to hit my house Saturday night!  Mainlining  meth is not something that even a strong person can do and still be in hiis right mind.   This morning I found myself wanting to kick the everliving watermelon out of him, but in that same thought, I know that his family are waiting by his bedside at the hospital hoping that they even have a son when the day is through.    Its a tough position to be in!  I have always hated thieves with a passion!

Maybe things will work out.  In my experience some pull their heads out of their ***'s but most were just ***'s who started doing drugs.  They did not need the drugs to be what they are.  You always hope for the best but sometimes its better for all when darwin strikes.  How many people are there in this world for which the world would be far better off without?

Man, good luck getting your stuff back, I hope you do get it back.

I know how dear musical instruments are.  I have a Takamine acoustic and a Strat I built myself, as well as a Yamaha SDGR bass, and I would not part with any of them for ten times what they are worth.  I would be out of my mind if they were stolen.

I had a bass rig stolen from our old practice room years ago, I never did find another setup I liked as much as that one.  They went through a steel doorframe mounted in a cinderblock wall to get it.  Left all the mics though... thieves are kinda stupid like that sometimes.

Anyways, good luck man... I hate it for ya.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles Skyrock.  I'm involved in a prison ministry and see kids like this all the time.  It is heartbreaking indeed.   I will pray for you and this young man.

Mark, I am truly sorry for this to have happened.   It is even more mind boggling over the current hospitalization.   Of course, while you want him punished, other thoughts are probably in the picture.

This is absolutely disturbing and without question, shocking.

Hopefully yer in there soon,
