« on: June 06, 2001, 06:50:00 AM »
Hi!

It's time to consider for updating my old pc.
Currently I have 412MHz (oc) + TNT (1)!! Geez..
I thought to upgrade to Duron 800 + cheap GeForce 2 videocard. Anyone have similar pc? What FPS you get?
I've read Abit KT7 would be best bet for motherboard. Comments?

Thx!

The Abit Kt7 is a good MB, though you should get the Kt7A now.  This will allow you to use processors above 1300 Mhz (100 Mhz ddr fsb) in the future.

You may also consider going to a DDR Ram board at this point.  I would recommend the Asus A7M266 for that.  (Note:  The A7A266 is not the same, totally different MB.)

There are many things that impact framerate, but you will definately get very good framerates with that setup.  (Given you have plenty of ram, etc.)

Abit KT7E is a tad cheaper and gives same bang per buck - as long as you dont need raid.  And it's blue   :)

Janneh, before I upgraded to 1.33 T'bird I used Duron 800 because it was cheap.  I got pretty respectable framerates in the upper 40s and 50s.  My graphics card is GeForce2 Pro 64MB, 256mb memory and Abit KT7A-RAID mobo.
