With all due respect, your HO is bullcrap ('IMO'): those guys aren't anymore suicidal than the pioneers of aviation, spaceflights, scuba diving,... They take big but calculated risks and sometimes make mistakes. Granted, the error margin is thin.

I believe the Wyle E. Coyote bat suit is closer. It's interesting when you hear about 'Looney Tunes' antics in real life. Typically they end in tragedy. Apparently, the French can pull this sort of thing off. Of course, if Wyle E. Coyote had the good sense to pack a backup chute the show wouldn't have been so entertaining. Wyle E. Coyote, while a super genius, was not as safety conscious as we are today. Was Wyle E. Francaise?
