Tank cannons versus ord
« on: November 08, 2006, 09:26:13 AM »
Has anyone ever collected any information about the amount of ordinance required to take out ground targets, vs the number of rounds from various cannons required to do the same?

I'm curious as to how the cannon loadouts (i.e. Hurr IId, Yak-9T, etc.) for ground attack planes compare with ordinance weights, as far as destructive power is concerned.

I'm talking strictly AH here... not IRL.

Thoughts?

Yes, people have done this:

Look here to see how many lbs are needed to destroy a structure

And from another thread:

* The Vickers S and 37mm HE Ostwind are the only weapons I
am not 100% certain of the full series of tests had very
inequal results. The value shown is the maximum damage
inflicted per round. I suspect that the variance is caused
by a bug in the burst dispersion code.
#1 Testing for the GV main guns and rockets was different.
I fired 1 round into a hanger and constantly tweaked the
hanger's damage resistence until I found the maximum single
round damage.
#2 The Main Guns on the Cruisers fire 3 shells at a time
each shell does 250lbs to 500lbs of damage. If all 3 hit then the
target just took 750lbs to 1500lbs of damage. The damage is scaled by
range 250lbs at maximum range, 500lbs at point blank, 390lbs at 6400 yards.

So those numbers are equivalent ordinance in pounds for each round?

Do you have the thread link handy?

Thanks Lusche

Yes they are. This way you can easily deduct the number of rounds needed to destroy a structure with a given weapon.

And the thread is http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=97083

cool...   I sent jazz an email, but he hasn't posted in 2 years, so I doubt he's even still around.

Any idea if this data is still valid?

**************

Any comments HT?  Has the damage per gun changed in the last couple of years?

To repeat Jazz's original request... Please oh pretty please... can I have some charts with the damage per round?   :D

But remember this is for taking down a building, not a GV.

Tigers can be killed outright with the 190F8's panzerblitz 1 rockets.

Btw: Destructive power on buildings and airplanes, will not give you the same values in AH.

Aircraft Gun Comparrison questions.

From the thread linked above:

No need to test, with ground structures range has no effect.
