My worst nightmare has been realized.  Vista went gold and will be available on the retail shelves, January 30, 2007.

Dearly beloved, we're gathered today on this solemn occasion to mourn the imminent passing of Skuzzy's sanity. He was a fury man with a penchant for plaid shirts and large, clumsy feet...

I only wish the game would not run on Vista.  Would make it a lot easier to deal with.  Having to tell someone who has been used to XP, they need to double the amount of RAM (4GB should be ok) and increase the CPU speed by about 25%, in order to do what they were doing before, and with lower frame rates, is not going to be pleasant.

If you are even considering purchasing Vista (above the basic Vista), check to be sure your motherboard will support 4GB of RAM.  Many do not.

I wish I could afford to retire before they release this monster.

4 GB? Seriously? My mb will support it. Do you really feel that 2 GB (my present config) will be deficient? Wow. Whatever, Bill gates says its gonna be great. Are you suggesting that we not believe Bill!?

Krusty - July 28th is Sysadmin day :) .

RE: 4Gb memory -
Yup some will support it, but usually only 3.5Gb is usable, the rest being used for memory tables etc.

2GB is a comfortable amount of RAM, if you use the Aero interface.  If you want to actually run applications, then you will want 3GB of RAM.  Any high end games, then 4GB will be needed.

The best rule of thumb I can provide is this;  If you want to maintain the current level of performance, of your computer running Windows XP, then you will need to double the system RAM, and increase the CPU speed by about 25% so you can run Vista and still run your other applcations at about the same speed as before.

Well... you dont have to necessarily BUY Vista, you can get free upgrade from OEM manufacturers.

Btw I have tested AH in Vista, runs ok so far. (with 2gb ram)

I do have some problems with it but it comes from hardware...

The free upgrade coupon is only good for the basic version of Vista.  Think of it as a more bloated version of Windows XP.  No Aero or admin utilities.

If any of you have I-tunes, or have seen the way that that flips thought album covers....imagine an os interface like that... lots of extra graphics and bloat.

Skuzzy - you just need to make a sticky now stating not to buy Vista, and go ahead and list you reasons why. Least make it official...lol
