Unable to go online!!!!
« on: July 21, 2000, 04:34:00 AM »
I have just registered for the 2-week trial after downloading the latest version.

When I click online and login when in aces the computer locks up (keyboard unresponsive) and I have to hard reset. This occurs whether or not I am connected to the internet, and the result is just the same.

The faq suggests pressing 'enter' - this has no effect.

PLZ HELP!!!!!!

In addition to above - can now get to the tower screen in the arena, but as soon as I get there I get the message 'HOST CONNECTION LOST'.

I've tried all the advice in the faq about changing modem setup (changing max rate to 19000 etc) but still no joy. I'm running a p3 550 with voodoo 3000 and 128Mb ram. Modem is 56k.

Any suggestions?

I'm new to this so please help!!!!

Next time this happens just let it sit. After a bit(less than a minute I think) a box should popup telling you it can't connect. It's not locked up, just busy trying to connect.
I've been having to login twice lately and the first couple of times I thought it was locking up too.

Your 'HOST CONNECTION LOST' message would confirm a connection problem.

Are you running a "firewall" program? Just a thought. If so you might have to give it permission to let AH connect.

Stanga, it sounds like your connection to our host is not good.  The application is probably not really locked up but just trying unsuccessfully to connect to the host.  It should eventually time out after a minute or so.  Are you familiar with or have you tried running any traceroutes to our host?
