Swift recovery my foot. I hope the DA will file charges on the second child's death. This is lunacy.

Very very bad  and sad.
She succeeded in killing the kids, and failed killing herself.
What a nut.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

If you own a fully automatic weapon you will get 10 years in prison.... or same for sawing a quarter of an inch too much off a shotgun barrel without paying the $5 tax.

In any state?

For like in Oklahoma, you can legally buy a fully automatic weapon on a gun fair...

Angus,

What Laz SHOULD have said is that if you have ILLEGAL possession of a fully automatic weapon.......

It's still immaterial as the insanity situation would have gotten her off of that too.

IMO, once the insane person is "cured" they should then start to serve the sentence a "sane" person would receive for the same offense. In other words, insane but guilty.

So... I take it that insanity is not insanity unless it's a life-long affliction?

Insanity need not be permanent. It also should not be an excuse and a "get out of jail free card" either.

Close to home, geographically.

The woman was found to be insane. If she is now sane, what's the point in keeping her locked up?

Maybe we need to examine our laws regarding insanity.

I have to agree with Maverick on this one. Once she is competent to understand what she did, she should serve the time.
