Dateline NBC strikes again. This is the best public service since America's Most Wanted. Some people don't seem to understand that.

What the heck is this guy thinking? They should be thanking the everyone involved for taking these scum off the street. The pedophiles were arrested,the town where it happened is now well know to be a place they will be busted in. They are much, much safer now than they were before.

I guess you misread the last paragraph of the article you posted....in short, they are upset that THEIR town and neighborhoods were used as bait to lure in these predators. That's their beef.

I think what some of them are not realizing is that these pervs were already in and around their neighborhoods. This little sting just brought them out in the light and removed them from the general poplulation.

They ought to do more of these, Often.

To be fair I belive all of us that have kids would have been abit shocked to find out that your neighbours house was used to draw in possible pedophiles. Asking for an apology is perhaps abit much, but i know i would not have liked it.

If i didnt have a kid around then it would have been another story.

I have 3 children, and I wouldn't have any probs with a sting like that next door. Afterall, its not like they didn't have the area saturated with law enforcement. If it was just a news crew, yep, then I'd have an issue (and a loaded handgun).

In the interest of fair disclosure: I ALWAYS have a loaded handgun in a LOCK BOX in my nightstand.

No LePaul, I've read it. I've also heard the interviews on the local news. The Mayor and a few people think Murphy was 100% free of pedophiles and always would have been if not for Dateline coming to town. They want the chief of police fired for not disclosing to everyone that there was a sting.

Now I'm no law enforcement genius, but if you take out a full page ad in the paper or go door to door telling everyone you are going to be secretly arresting pedophiles at a certain house on a certain day, you won't catch many.

If I was a pedophile and I saw a bunch of pedophiles being arrested in a certain house in a certain town, I'd probably avoid that town like the plague.

They are MUCH safer today than they were before the sting. Those griping about it are idiots. The worst of the worst are off the streets, some of them permanently.

No community is 100% free of pedophiles.

I bet that sooner or later that neighborhood with the background check is going to get their butts handed to them in a law suit for discrimination.

In a similar situation, my home town, the mayor and council demanded that Police operations involving sexual predators be stopped. The sting was going on in a central city PARK right next to the playground equipment. Several sexual deviants were arrested for sex in public, attempting to solicit sexual acts and exposing themselves to children in the restrooms next to the playground. The vast majority (over 90%) arrested were homosexual males. Since the mayor and council were in the process of trying to make the city into a San Francisco clone (not my opinion, their statement of intent had been published many times) they demanded any prosecutions regarding any homosexual activity of any type be stopped and that NO Police enforcement activity be conducted in the parks particularly for any sexual acts.
