Dave nice write-up on CH Gear.  I've been using Ch products for a long time.  Nothing better imho...and I've tried them all.

However for Joystick I prefer the 568 Combatstick USB to the Fighter stick.

To me it just fits my hand better.  And along with the throttle and Pro pedals....I only use the keyboard to enter text.  Everything I need is setup on the stick, throttle, or combination of stick and throttle.  Lookup view on throttle....and all other views on the stick.  Gives you view 360 around your aircraft.

I used TrackIR 2.   I was disappointed.  The view system setup in aces high is much faster imho without worrying about final head postion to gunsite etc.

So what is it you feel is missing?

Its not that I have any problem with trackir.  I just like the AH view system so much that I really don't want to stop using it.

I like using a hat switch for AH.  I prefer trackir for my Jet sim stuff.

If you have small hands this stick may very well be a problem for you. The hat switch is in the upper right hand side of the stick and it is a bit of a reach for me. I have fairly large hands and can palm "most" basketballs. (I say this only to offer some perspective) At first I thought the reach was to far...... I am used to it now and its not a problem for me.

I've got mine set to adjust my view for looking around struts. Works great.

Also, for anchoring the stick and throttle to the desk I use 3" wide strips of industrial grade velcro

Some ATX towers, when put next to an adjustable height chair, are almost perfect elevation for a JS.

Hi, new to AH <---- hence post #1

I have used the CH setup for the last 18 months in Fighter Ace and have had a lot of fun with it and am very used to it.  I have made the change to AH and find it very rough, particularly when firing.

I almost think I would be more accurate if I closed my eyes and yanked on the trigger - I know it must be my end as I see people shoot others down with highly accurate bursts.

So, question is, do you guys use the CH mapping or do you just map in game?  I use in game and wondered if that is why it seems rough as guts in here.

Cheers

I use AH mapping and have not tried out the CH software.  When I fly Falcon4, Lock On or IL2 I use the mapping software.  All of those games are more difficult to set up in my opinion.  AH is so easy to set up that I don't see a need to use anything else.

Can you give me a little more info when you say "Rough"  I suspect you are just still adjusting to the game and the gunnery will come with time.  However when you say "Rough" it has me wondering whats going on there.

I suspect you are right when you say I am still adjusting to the game.

Rough - get firing solution on enemy - fills my screen - pull trigger - no hits and I seem to lose the ability to keep him in shot - boom out and try again.

I am sure it is just me getting used to the game but just wanted to know if you gys took the time to map to Ch software or used ingame.

I got Track IR as well - sweet - will need to configure properly one day --- baby steps I suppose.  I was good in Airwarrior and Fighter Ace and am now having it handed to me in AH - gotta love a challenge  :)

if this is the fess i know from fa you were more than good you were unstoppable....i have better gunnery skills here than i did before i upgraded video....BnZ burp the trigger and off comes a wing....you may not be lining up with the sights good because of trackir...one thing did help me is the lovely z key....sight an enemy get a solution press z and you can see so much better and for a gunmaster like yourself ought to be able to pick your shots...cheers
